It is hard to believe that something this simple can be so good....and no preservatives just good comforting ingredients. It was a huge hit with my family, even my very fussy daughter.

I added a bay leaf during the initial cooking phase-otherwise I followed the recipe perfectly. It was a very tasty soup and I will definately be making it again.

Certainly doesn't taste like a tomato soup out of the can! I added 1 celery stalk, 1 large carrot and 2 cloves of garlic. It was still a bit tangy or acidic. Next time I will experiment to reduce that.

One day my 10 y/o was sick and was craving tomato soup, disgusted with all the MSG in the canned soups I hit foodnetwork.com for a good recipe. This is one of my very favorite recipes ever! I have cooked it for potlucks and have people who never have liked tomato soup ask for the recipe. The best part is it takes only 10 minutes to make, is so inexpensive and very nutritious when you think you can add organic ingredients, make a bath and have money to spare. It is wonderful! Full, flavorful, comforting!

My family loved this soup--even my picky kids! I've made it twice, once w/crushed tomatoes as called for and once with diced (all I had. Either way is good. I added 2 small/1 large, thinly sliced garlic clove that I sauteed in 1 tsp. olive oil to the pot prior to blending which gave it a delicious, roasted garlic flavor. Also, I did 1/2 half and half and 1/2 skim milk to cut the calories (although I'm sure the full cream version is fabulous. This is a great basic to keep on hand!
