As stated on previous reviews, this one needs a little bit of modification. I added water, chicken broth and salt to the pot while cooking. That tamed it down. The flavor was a nice contrast with the bacon-wrapped chicken with bleu cheese and pecans - they paired together well. Next time, I think I'll try a sweeter red wine, like pinot noir or shiraz. I used a cabernet, and it was definitely dry.

There was too much wine, which overpowered the rice.

We were missing some ingredients so we substitued dried carnberries and pine nuts for the grapes. Also, we thought there would not be enough liquid so we used 1.5 cups red wine and .5 cup of chicken stocke. We had picky eaters over for dinner that night and even they enjoyed it. We made it again with the original recipe last night and I have to say that our initial tweaked version was much better!

As with all others, I agree it was entirely tooooooo much wine! The idea was exotic and awesome, but the reality is it needs modification. I almost brought it to a Thanksgiving dinner but read all reviews before making it. I then made a small portion to try it out and sure enough.....AWFUL. I am excited to try it with a lot less wne (just a hint of wine and some stock as others suggested. Good thing I tried it out in time!

These ingredients should never be put together. I practically gagged when I tasted this mess. My dinner guests tried to be polite and force it down their throats, but I just couldn't let them do it. I threw it out! Thanks Rach.

I made it for my girlfriend and the color and presentation were great, but we both agreed that the taste was a little overwhelming. I agree with other reviewers that replacing some of the wine with chicken stock and adding some salt would greatly improve the recipe.

It was just awful. Fortunately, my dinner guests were very close friends and did not feel like they had to be polite and eat it. No one could eat it. I checked and double checked the recipe and am sure that I followed it to the letter. The recipe needs some work!! In fairness, it it probably the first Rachael Ray recipe that I was not happy with!!! Please re-work this one.

The amount of wine used for the dish made the flavor way too strong, and I like the wine I used. I would definitely suggest diluting it with some chicken stock or something.

This dish looked very interesting on the show, but the results were not what was expected. Rice cooked in red wine sounds avant guard, but tastes avant stinky.

I had my doubts, I was so wrong. This dish is my new favorite. I am looking forward to making it again. Soon.
