A friend made this for a dinner get together & I loved it! I recently made it and it turned out fabulous, and it's very easy. Not quite a "30-minute meal" for me yet, but maybe as I get used to making it will be.

This was so easy and delicious. My whole family ate it. I used egg noodles instead of couscous.

As others mentioned, it took more than 30 minutes, but was worth the trip.

I cooked this tonight for my wife and I and it is just as easy and tasty as it looked on the show. I used chicken instead of lamb. Couple of suggestions:
1 Up the amount of pine nuts in the couscous. Double them.
2 Cut back on the dates just a little. I used fresh dates that I had to pit. So maybe they were bigger ?
3 Add some corn starch and water to the chicken stock to thicken. Cooking down would take too long and overcook the chicken. It may be soupy without.
Otherwise enjoy a nice, spicy (not hot meal of great mixed flavors.

I substituted 2 1/12 lbs. of boneless skinless chicken thighs and breasts for the lamb (as Rachael suggests in her cookbook. The dish lasted me several days and the leftovers were just as good.

Easy to make with a wonderful mixture of flavors and textures. Most of her recipes are very good, but this is one of the most unusual, and one of the best.

I tried this dish with chicken instead of the lamb.. I also left out the dates and nuts and it came out so gooooooood! My husband loved it and said that it was one of the best meals I ever made. The dish is excellent and looks beautiful once it's all done. Thanks R.Ray!

This recipe turned out great, but the steam from it stained the white vents in my oven vent fan, and the white microwave above my oven yellow (due to the turmeric. It came off fine with degreaser, but who wants to have to dismantle their vent fan to clean it after dinner? I will definately be making this recipe again - but next time I won't turn on the fan :

I thought this came out great. Next time I might use a little less chicken stock (the sauce was a little thin and quarter the dates to spread them out more throughout the dish.

This is a wonderful quick meal that will really impress a crowd. Its definitly a unique dish far away from the ordinary. Just allow an extra 15 minutes to actually cut up the lamb into pieces if you buy a full leg.
