Thanks for posting a complete meal idea rather than just a main entree. I tried to make the salisbury steak as described, but it fell apart in the pan. Despite looking ugly...it tasted delicious! In addition to the diced onion, I added a little bit on minced garlic to the salisbury steak mix. For the smashed potatoes--I didn't have any Boursin cheese or half and half. I boiled the potatoes, drained the water, and smashed them with some non-fat cream cheese, some carribean spices that are suppose to turn cream cheese into boursin cheese (I'm guessing that it's only garlic powder, salt, & pepper, and a splash of skim milk. I added some fresh chives to the final product, too. They came out pretty good. Overall I was very happy with the flavors of this meal, but this wouldn't be the prettiest of meals to serve company.

This was a great meal! We used a mix of half s&p and half spicy Montreal steak seasoning. Good recipe and highly recommended!!

The gravy and potatoes are fantastic. The salisbury steaks were ok. We all thought the patties were rather dry and not very flavorful, possibly due to the ground sirloin? The request I got was to make the gravy and potatoes and to skip the meat next time.

I made the whole recipe and followed it to a T with one exception based on other review. I did add one egg to the patties and make four patties instead of two as we have four people in our family. Having said that, this recipe is really easy and really good. My whole family like everything. I will make this again.

As a very novice cook, I had some challenges with the preparation. The biggest challenge was dealing with such large patties of beef. As one other reviewer pointed out, they break apart easily when transferring to the pan and when flipping. I was so concerned about cooking such thick patties thoroughly that I'm pretty sure I overcooked them too. I like spinach okay, but my wife doesn't, and the creamed spinach did not transform the flavor enough for her to eat it. Also, I should have used the entire package of Boursin garlic and herb cheese. I tried to keep to the 4 oz. in the recipe, but using the entire 5.25 oz. package would have helped the potatoes from being a touch bland. With some tweaks and practice on my part, this could be a terrific meal. As I prepared it last night, it was only a good meal.

WOW! This one is a winner in taste and ease of preparation. My husband loved it so much he requested it to be repeated the next week. We love to cook and like to elevate our meals but this recipe is perfect just like it is!

I love Rachael Ray but this recipe was not up to par... The steak was my problem. When I was making it I knew I needed to at least add an egg or something to the mix but I didnt because I wanted to see how her recipe went and as I knew the patties just completely fell apart - they are way too big to be able to flip in the pan and not have them break apart. There was WAY too much onion and that was really the only flavor they then ended up having... very disappointed.
