Simple to make. Not sure what others may have meant by a mess but it wasn't my experience. Has a nice lemon flavor balanced by the thyme and wine. Served it with pasta but did not make the pasta with leeks; will definitely try it with the leeks next time. I like trying new recipes and this one will become a repeat recipe for a quick, flavorful, easy to prepare meal.

This is a delightful recipe. First, a great way to poach a bunch of chicken breasts and to brew some very good broth for now and later, thanks to your freezer. I found that by adding the lemon juice judiciously, you can control the flavor to be as you'd like it. A blast of s/p as you go can also give you a bit more seasoning. Have some patience as you make the sauce and you can't go wrong.

Simple recipie and an easy week night meal, especially if everything is prepped a day or two before. Goes well with the pasta, but you'll need a larger stove or smaller pots. Very easy to make gluten free. Just use corn starch versus flour. Wife loved it.

The recipe was...workable, but my entire family found it overpoweringly lemony. It might have been better to soften it if the optional cream weren't optional, and was a full ingredient. It would have done better with more garlic and more herbs, if you're in to that kind of thing. Basil being cooked right into it helped a lot.
Seems like lemon is a general issue, reading over others' comments.

I made this 2 days ago and followed the lead of others here and cut the amount of lemon. I also did a substitution for the wine with white grape juice diluted with white wine vinegar. The leftovers made an incredible lemon chicken pot pie! To use a Rachelism, YUM-O! This one is a keeper!

I just made this and it was fabulous! OMG! I had a little trouble poaching the chicken because I kept checking the temperature, but once I put them into the gravy it was so delicious! I know this was very lemony but that may have been because you reduced the gravy a bit too much. I highly suggest that you taste the gravy before you add it to the pasta so that you can adjust any seasoning. I did add S&P too. I tasted the gravy before I added half & half (did not have cream and this helped cut down the strength of the lemon a little. I also added some additional chicken stock at the end and let it blend in and this added to the flavor. Totally love this dish! Thanks Rachel!

After reading the reviews I cut the lemon just a bit and WOW! We absolutely LOVED this. I am not sure why people didn't like it. Tasted amazing and the chicken poached was FABULOUS! The gravy was great and we will be putting this in our dinner rotation. If you are not a big lemon fan, at least try the poached chicken. Moist and flavorful!

Not worth the mess!
I normally don't write reviews on here but for this one, I had to. Like others who wrote reviews, I was excited to try the whole "lively and light" menu on this episode. It looked delicious ! ! ! Like you all, I thought the chicken was great but the sauce had WAY too much lemon in it.
All and all, not worth your time and effort. If you are hankering for your grandma's chicken noodle soup, just make it. MUCH more satisfying than this two-bit food deconstruction. You'll also want Rachael to come over and clean up the huge mess this menu leaves behind in your kitchen.

The chicken was very good, but I couldn't eat the sauce - way too lemony and wine tasting. I gave some to my neighbor and she couldn't eat the sauce either. Will definitely not make this one again.
