This is a terrific recipe but, I did not add the weiners. One time I did buy the Manwich brand and I had to add a lot of spice before it was edible. Ech!

However, when I made this with ground turkey, he loved it! I edited out the hot dogs though, and it was a hit with everyone!! Even my picky eater son! He skipped over the chips and ate the entire sandwich!!

We do not eat sloppy joes very often and usually its canned sauce or packet seasoning. This was really good. My kids of course didn't eat a lot of it but my hubby actually said this is really good. He hardly ever compliments recipes he knows I have gotten from Food Network lol. He doesn't care for change. Thanks Rachael :

I'm a full time mom, wife and career girl and was running out of ideas to make for dinner in a pinch. This was done in about 20 minutes and my family absolutely loved it! Even my picky 6 year old finished it all up. I did alter the recipe a bit -- ground turkey (no beef, no hot dogs, and 1 tbsp of brown sugar instead of 3. I toasted the buns and served it with grilled asparagus and a fruit salad. Thank you Rachel!!

I am not a sloppy joe fan till now. I had grandchildren over and wanted to make something delicious, fast, and easy. Rachael saved the day. When I saw her make this on her show. It was perfect. Everyone loved the hamburger and hot dog combination. I used 97% fat free
hot dogs with the hamburger but otherwise followed the recipe as she posted it. My grandchildren and children ask for this dish again and again. Thanks Rachael for making grandma's job easier in feeding a crowd. Best part is that it is easy on the budget too!!

My boyfriend requested sloppy joe for dinner, which made me a little nervous since I never made it before. I uesed this recipe and after my boyfriend took his first bit he said ?mmmm?just like mom used to make?. It was full of flavor and made for us to enjoy leftovers the next day. Thanks!

I followed this recipe EXACTLY. I even had the McCormick montreal steak seasoning. It was either that or the chilli powder.. something tasted too much. Cumin in the seasoning? Or the chilli powder? I will make again. Def. did NOT add hotdogs. Gross. But I like the fact of basically making the sauce from scratch and not manwich. Love finding recipes that use ground turkey but isn't dried out. I used whole wheat buns (toasted and used ellie's mac n cheese w squash recipe. Great, healthy update on classic I grew up on.

My whole family agreed that these were really good sloppy joes, but that the hot dogs were strange.

    Rachael,

My boyfriend, owner of the Kokopelli Inn, located in Killington, Vermont, would like to say "thank you". This was just so tasty and healthy!!!!!! It brought back high school memories for him - having sloppy joes in the school cafeteria. As for myself, I never made sloppy joes, until tonight - Monday, June 22, 2009. It was an easy recipe to follow. The only thing that I did different to your recipe, I eliminated the hot dogs. I will absolutely serve this for our next "Potluck" Friday night parties that we host here at the Kokopelli Inn!!!!! Thank you Rachael !!!!!!!!!!!
