I thought this was a great idea and tasted wonderful!! And it did take me longer than 30 mins but it was well worth it! Plus it made so much that I could freeze it into smaller portions for easy weeknight meals!

I saw this recipe on 30 minute meals..looked yummy, so I gave it a try...it took forever to make and also my kitchen was a mess with dirty pans, etc..it turned out so dry, not enough sauce and too many noodles...I actually was making it for a crowd of family members and my 11 year old granddaughter (who would eat anything said it was not good. We ended up throwing it away. I guess I could take the time to customize the recipe but the first time I make something I try to follow the recipe exactly. Definitely would not try this again without making more sauce and less noodles.

The dish looked dry when I watched the show, so I put my own spin on it. Used only one pound of fusilli (not lasagne noodles. It is a fun shape, you can break it into the water, and it incorporates into the dish better. I used 1 1/2 lb. meatloaf mix, added dried Italian seasoning and made the meat/tomato sauce the night before to save time the day of serving. Also sprinkled shredded mozzarella on top. It is a less expensive cheese and melted easily. I liked the cinnamon/nutmeg combo. Gives it a twist. Many people complain that the dish makes too much and is too dry. So, let's all cope, thank Rachael for a great idea, and make adjustments to suit your personal tastes. this dish works great as a vegetarian lasagne with spinach, carrots and mushrooms.

This was fast and easy. Did not have lasagna noodles so I used macaroni noodles and used 1/2 of what was in the recipe for the pasta. Also used regular canned tomatoes with chili peppers since it is what I had at home. And like many of the reviewers added cheese. Otherwise proportions were spot on. But a wonderful recipe and great to take for lunch the next day. Smelled up the whole office! People were jealous! Saved this one to my recipe box!

Saw this on Rachaels week-in-a-day and had to try this. So glad I did - very Yummy!! Super easy to adjust to the serving size needed for your house. We are a small family, so I only used half a box of lasagna noodles (about 8 oz and one package of spicy sausage (casings removed instead of the ground meat. I used some homemade spaghetti sauce instead of all the ingredients Rachael had listed. The boys in my house don't care much for ricotta (and the one can't eat cheese at all, so I left the ricotta out and only covered half with provolone; still plenty creamy and rich - not even sure the provolone was needed. This will be a repeat recipe in my house for sure!

I made this today but with only ground turkey and smoked turkey sausage. This dish was very good, this was featured on 30minute meal but it takes about 45 minutes - hour really w/ doing all the prep. I did the cheese sauce but I added grated parmesan cheese & mozzarella cheese to the sauce. I did add some red pepper flakes, fresh basil, italian parsley, & extra tomato paste to the sauce. This dish is huge, makes a lot of food I believe I'm going to freeze half of it. Overall its a much faster way than making traditional lasagna. I did also put some cinnamon in the sauce. Used Ricotta cheese & Cottage Cheese for the center layer.

Yum. The whole family loved it...even the fussiest! I added anise seed and red pepper flakes to the ground meat, eliminated the cinnamon and made the cheese sauce with a combination of mozzarella and Parmesan. 1/2 recipe was more thane enough to feed 6.

Thanks Rachael...This recipe was awsome.
I even managed to find the San Marzano Tomatoes at my local Lucky's market.
I cut the amounts in half since I only cook for 2. I used the full 28oz can of tomatoes though and did not cut the ingredients for the cheese sauce. It came out just perfect. The kewl thing about this recipe was being able to break down the noodles to smaller sizes and after cooking them just mix them in with the meat sauce.. I will be putting his recipe on my list of favorites. Thanks again, you're awsome!!!!
