Oh my gosh! These are the yummiest veggie Sloppy Joes I've ever tasted. I agree that it reminds me a little of chili but the brown sugar and a splash of ketchup (my addition really really takes it to another level. Made it for dinner and my bread is baking in the oven but the gravy is already half over because my husband and I have been in and out of the kitchen with tablespoons full of it, "just tasting".

The recipe needs a bit of adustment in my opinion, I found the end result to lack depth. I added a bay leaf for body and a lb of ground turkey for soul and to please my meat and potatoes man. I will use the recipe again however I will omit the brown sugar and use the recipe as a base to healthier Sloppy Joes with ground ground turkey.

I love sloppy joes and this vegetarian spin left me smiling. I prefer the beef ones, but this was still a great joe. I might coarsely mash the beans next time as they kept falling off the bun, but the flavor was right and my girlfriend and I kept going back for more!

if this recipe is too tex mex for you, leave out the cumin and black beans. I like to sub soy crumbles but novice veg. eaters may be able to tell. But don't leave out brown sugar because sloppy joes should be on the sweet side. Good stuff either way.

I've been a vegetarian for about a third of my life, and I love trying new recipes. Cooking for my family - all meat-eaters - is always a challenge, because they live under the assumption that veggies will never be as filling as meat. When I made this dish for them, I had 'em licking their plates. :

While cooking, I began to fear that it was going to taste to Mexican, but I was pleasantly surprised. Also, DON'T skip out on the pickles! If you use the pickles to top sandwich, you won't have to salt during the cooking process. The added crunch gained by toasting the buns is also very satisfying.

    Excellent recipe! Thanks Rachael.

I recently converted to vegetarianism and this is my weekly standby. I make it Sunday nights and and eat on it for a few days for lunch. I eat it more like a chili in a bowl with a good crusty roll and salad. Super easy to make, excellent flavors, filling and savory. Thanks Rachael!!

Made this for the first time last night and substituted rice wine vinegar for the Worcestershire sauce due to the anchovies in the sauce, what a hit! My kids went crazy for it! I've never seen them finish a plate that fast. Also, I would recommend cooking it down a little more than 3 minutes to finish, mine was still a little watery after 3 minutes. I think I let it simmer for an extra 5 minutes and it really helped it come together. Rachael always comes up the best recipes! However, I would rename the recipe to "Not as sloppy JOE gonna eat yo veggies!" That is all.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I like to eat a lot of meatless meals. This is delish! I even like it served over brown rice. It's a keeper!

I made this recipe because I forgot to buy ground turkey at the market. I was excited to try it because Rachael's recipes haven't disappointed me before and my husband is a fan. He also LOVES sloppy joes. Unfortunately this recipe just tasted like chili. So, Rachael come on. Just call a spade a spade. Even though the last time I had sloppy joe was at my school's cafeteria in the sixth grade, I remember it being more savory. Maybe next time I'll skip the brown sugar. Anyway, it's yummy and it tasted really really good with guacamole and chips. But it's chili.

My sister made this and brought it to me- I've pasted it along to friends. It is good as a stoup if you dont have crusty rolls. I love Racheal Ray:
