Smoked Salmon Pizza

This makes a wonderful 10 minutes or less party offering or appetizer, as well as a light entree on summer nights. Complement it with a[ simple mixed green salad for supper.]

Ingredients
  • 1 (12-inch) prepared thin crust pizza shell, recommended: Boboli brand
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill leaves, chopped or snipped
  • 1/3 pound Nova Scotia smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • Toppings:
  • 1/4 English cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons capers, drained
Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Crisp pizza crust 5 minutes on perforated pizza pan or on oven rack.

While pizza crust is in oven, mix sour cream with lemon juice and dill in a small bowl.

Remove pizza shell from oven and let stand until cool to the touch. You have a pocket of time here to work on other recipes.

On cool, crisp pizza shell, spread the sour cream-dill sauce in an even layer. Evenly distribute sliced smoked salmon, working all the way to the edges.

Top pizza with sliced cucumber, red onion, and capers.

To serve, cut pizza in 1/2. Cut each 1/2 in 1/2 again, 4 cuts across. Turn the pan a 1/4 turn and slice into quarters, making 16 cuts.

    This was a huge hit, with adults AND kids, but heres how I doctored it. To sour cream mixture I whipped in 1 Tbs of cream cheese and granulated garlic with other ingredients. I brushed crust with lemon infused olive oil and baked it for 7-10 min. Once cooled, I spread the sour cream mixture then topped it with pieces of left over cooked salmon from prev nights dinner that was previously marinated in teriyaki. I spread capers and sliced onions (as per recipe), then topped the entire thing with grated Havarti cheese. (I wouldnt have used goat cheese but my husband doesnt like it). Then I sprinkled it with fresh dill from my organic garden. OMG it was so delicious, it was gone in a flash! I gave 5 stars cuz mine was to die for. I imagine it is also good if you follow the recipe, but I use recipes only as a guide, and then do my own creative additions.

    Needed a quick and easy light supper for drop in guests. They loved it! Added some Old Bay seasoning to the sour cream and also added some cream cheese along with freshly ground pepper. I used a smokey thin crust square pizza shell and it cut into perfect pieces. I know I'll make it again--great appetizers!
    This recipe was so fast to make! It would also make a delicious sandwich!
    I brought this as an appetizer for a get-together and it was a HIT! I used the Boboli crust as in the recipe, but a homemade pizza would probably make it better.
    this was soooo good. i added a couple of tablespoons of cream cheese to the sour cream and it was awesome. i agree, cut before dressing! love it!

    As long as you don't mistakenly use a thick crust instead of the thin the recipe calls for, this appetiser is a surefire hit for anyone who likes smoked salmon. It's easy, you can make it ahead, and it lends itself to variations. I don't like cucumbers so I added halved cherry tomatoes and used chopped red onion instead. I also sprinkled chopped black olives over it.
    I love smoked salmon and have had many wonderful versions of smoke salmon pizza...this one is my new favorite! The flavor is wonderful, healthy and the presentation is absolutly beautiful!
     

     
    I cut my pizza into even slices after spreading the sour cream sauce, before adding the toppings. This makes it much easier to cut and less messy. I also added salt and pepper to the sour cream mix for an added kick! Other than that the whole pizza is great! I love Rachel Ray!
    I'm not a huge fan of capers. Take those off, and you got yourself a delicious pizza. Super easy to make.
    I love smoked salmon and this is a great way to serve it. It was just as good the next day, if not better.
    I prepared this as an hors d'oeuvre for my annual cookie exchange and it received rave reviews! It was simple to make, yet it looked very impressive on a crystal Christmas platter. I wasn't sure the sour cream mixture would be flavorful enough as I was preparing it, yet it was the perfect balance with the salmon, onion and capers. However, I do agree with the reviewer who suggested to cut the boboli after the sour cream step. I didn't and my toppings did get a little "smooshed". It still tasted terrific and I will definitely add it to me repertoire!

    I am on a high fiber/low fat diet, so I used low carb/high fiber tortillas instead of the pizza crust, low fat sour cream, and added tomatoes. It hit the sopt and was healthy.

    I prepared this for a bachelorette party and everyone raved about it! It tastes great and has an impressive-looking presentation, even though it's super easy to make.
    This was a Rachel Ray recipe. The concept is sound - using lemon, dill, and capers to balance an excellent, though perhaps overused smoked salmon/red onion combination set upon a Boboli pizza crust with sour creme. Implementation, however, should be altered: be sure to cut the Boboli crust after slathering it with the lemon/dill/sour creme mixture. If you do not, and apply the salmon, onions, and capers prior to cutting the crust into neat little serving sizes, many of the ingredients will be pushed off even when using an very sharp cutting round. I suggest adding a few minutes to the prep time and truly making this an elegant, and "crisp" presentation by fitting the required elements to a pre-cut crust.

    This was sooooooo delish, I love smoked salmon and blended with the capers, dill and sour cream made it a real treat...try it...you won't be dissapointed.
    So delish! Great for a hot summer day. Perfect blend of flavors.
