So I was stoked when i found this recipe because my boyfriend loves spicy basil chicken. Its the only thing he orders when we go to a thai restaurant. I did modify the recipe a little. I couln't find fish sauce, so used a teaspoon of black bean and garlic sauce, I used a little more hot chil oil than the recipe called for ( i like it spicy, and i added a splash of soy sauce, and a few splashes of chicken broth. I also added 1 inch of fresh ginger and one jalapeno. This recipe is very good!!! I loved it. My boyfriend said there is still something missing. But he said it was leaning in the right direction. I will make it again. Maybe it needs the fish sauce.

I added one jalepeno, one serrano pepper, ginger, and a little bit of soy sauce. No chili oil, just canola. Everything else I made as is. It was delicious. It ended up being a little saucy, so I poured that over my rice. Mmmmm.

Not usually a big fan of these 30 minute meals- this one is a hit out the park! Tastes just like a Thai restaurant, so good. Used black bean garlic sauce bc I didn't have fish sauce (yuck on hand, other than that followed recipe exactly. Perfect.

I have made this a number of times for my husband and I and even for friends. This is just as good as chicken with basil at a Thai restaurant. So easy as well.

This was a great dinner for a double date. I did add about an inch of ginger root, and marinated the chicken for a couple hours in some soy and sriacha as well as some of the hot oil. Next time we will make it spicier and make more so we can all have seconds!

I used this recipe as a good base, because it seemed as though the taste would be missing something if I followed the recipe exactly as is. I did everything that RR suggested, but I used 1 red bell pepper instead of 2 and used green beans in it's place, half chicken breast and half chicken thighs (I found that the thighs added more moisture which gave me a good sauce. I also add a 1 inch piece of fresh garlic (half ground and half sliced thinly, about 3 tbsp of hoisin sauce, and an extra tbsp of hot chili peppers in oil (I love things extra spicy. I did not use the peanut dressing suggested, I didn't feel as though it went with the flavor.
The recipe as is would be a 2-3 star for me... but as a base recipe it deserves a 4 star rating in my opinion.

This was absolutely fantastic! I replaced the rice with rice noodles, and stir fried it all together. Then put spicy chili sauce over it (I like it spicy!. I would have perhaps put some small whole chilis in with it as well. Good recipie and really easy!

This was delicious! Great alternative to plain old chicken & rice. If you are hesitant about the fish sauce like I was, try it anyways! It adds a nice mild flavor in the background. It was a little on the bland side, mine definately needed salt when I was eating. Also not spicy enough for me but I didn't want to overload my 3 year old. I ended up adding more chili oil to my bowl. I also finished with some sliced scallions. DELISH!! And this was probably one of the quickest dinners I've made!! Came together so quickly.
