My sister invited me over to dinner last night and served these calzones. Absolutely delicious!! The only change she made was to substitute chopped sauted chicken meat for the artichokes since my brother-in-law doesn't like artichokes. They were extremely tastey topped with a marinara sauce she made from one of Tyler Florence's recipes. I plan on making these tonight so I can bring them into work over the weekend but I'll make them with both the artichoke and chicken to make the even more substantial. Yum-O

This recipe was simple and quick to make, and also easy on the wallet! The flavor didn't blow me away, but it was a solid weeknight meal. I added some salt to the mixture, but that may be a personal taste. The calzones are huge, which is great, because we had leftovers for lunch. While this wasn't my favorite of Rachael's recipes, all in all, we enjoyed it.

To ensure more flavor I used 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and added a dash of onion powder. My husband and I loved them. I might divide the dough into 3 vs. 2 next time; they were almost too large for me to eat.

I would add a little bit less garlic next time though. Delicious snack.

The recipe was great, I added more cheese then recommended and used marinated artichokes instead of the ones in water. The flavor of the marinated artichokes went throughout the calzone. Yummy! Great with chicken too!

They were easy to make. I made them smaller to make them more as an appetizer. Worked great.

I've made the sausage calzones before and they were excellent. I loved these as well, especially with Rachael's 5 Minute Spicy Marinara. I did have to kick up the sauce a little bit with a tad more Italian seasoning and a little more red pepper. Both calzone recipes rock.
