I am so sad this was not as good as I thought it would be. It took about 45mins to make. My gravy was perfect but I think the best part about this dish was the bacon :(
I could not wait to make this since I saw the show. I think the blue chees made it taste a litle funky. I LOVE blue chees and it just didnt taste very good. The meat was a little bland. I dont know. Maybe I will try again but next time use sharp chedder cheese instead of blue...

I used cornstarch instead of flour and asiago cheese instead of blue cheese. I also made sure to use a gluten free beef broth and Worcestershire. This dish is a homerun!

I made this tonight. Loved all of it except the mashed potatoes. Next time Ill leave out the blue cheese...it over powers everything else in the dish and didnt fit well in the recipe.

This was a big hit with my family! My teenage son who loves steak only in steak form actually liked this. The flavors were powerful although I left out the mushrooms and the blue cheese. I don't mind, but this meal took me an hour and a half as well, but it was worth it.

I made this recipe and used turkey meat instead of beef. I also added some frozen peas and carrots before popping it in the oven. It was delicious and plan on making it again. Thanks Rachael!

Great dish and the whole family loved it. It took more than 30 minutes and clean-up was a bit much. I will cut back a little bit on the beef stock next time becuase it seemed a little soup when I mixed the gravy with the beef. I think next time I will try using cream of mushroom soup instead of making the gravy. I also like the idea of using instant potatoes to cut down on the time. Overall great dish and will make it often

PLEASE...I HAVE MADE A FEW OF RACHEL'S RECIPES AND THEY HAVE BEEN GREAT BUT THIS ONE WAS AWFUL! WAY TOO GREASY AND THE BLUE CHEESE IN THE MASHED POTATOES WAS NASTY. I LOVE BLUE CHEESE WITH WINGS BUT NEVER AGAIN WITH MASHED POTATOES. THIS WAS NOT YUM O BUT NASTY O !!!1

This recipe was a major hit at home. I modified the gravy minorly. I browned the mushrooms, added about 1/4 c beef broth and about 1/4 marsala wine; removed this from heat and then followed the original except 2 tbsp A1 instead of the Worcestershire sauce and added the mushroom mixture after thickened. Gravy was to die for - I got 4 atta girls and 2 kisses :- Rachel - your recipes promote creativity and that's the greatest thing a teacher can do!!

I omitted the bacon, added mixed veggies, and took a shortcut by using prepared roasted garlic mashed potatoes from the grocery store, so I didn't follow the recipe exactly but it was WONDERFUL! My husband and 6 year old daughter LOVED it. Next time I would double the mushrooms, just personal preference. I think using the prepared mashed potatoes must have cut out a bunch of time, because unlike the other reviewers, it was done right at 30 minutes. Will definitely make again.
