This is the best Monte Cristo I've ever had. I made some substitutions to make it healthier for me, but it was fantastic. It helped to fulfill a sweet and savory craving. Rachael Ray ROCKS!

My bread slices were nice and thick. It was hard to get them coated without them getting too soaked with the egg mixture. My havarti wasn't satisfying enough..I wanted more of a spice to my cheese. It filled the belly for lunch but not going to add to the permanent collection.

Modified recipe a bit, used raspberry jam as we are used to at Bennigans. Also used sourdough bread and omitted the syrup. But it was good. Never had havarti cheese before and it was good too.

When I saw this recipe on her recent show I wasn't sure what to think.... a french toast sandwich with cranberry sauce and mustard???? But WOW! I have never made a recipe by Rachel Ray that hasn't been super tasty, and this one is no exception! The variety of flavors and textures in this sandwich make it pretty amazing. I loved this recipe and will definitely be making it again! I don't eat pork so I subsituted turkey for the ham and turkey bacon for the bacon, and it still came out fabulous.

These sandwiches sounded kinda grose to me, with so many flavors going on...cranberries, mustard, syrup...BUT they were DELICIOUS! And my kids loved them too!!! Rachel ray does it again...thanks!
