I know this is supposed to be a quick fix for red beans and rice but, with a little planning, and less time actually in the kitchen, you are MUCH better off making any other red beans and rice recipe in the slow cooker. You end up with a lovely bean "gravy" with the rice, instead of this very processed-tasting version.

When i made this for my family it turned out to have no flavor even though you had hot sauce. It really needs more spices to make it taste flavorful.

This recipe is very filling and quite tasty. I think it tastes better with well-cooked brown rice rather than white rice, but that's just my opinion. I suggest you use smoked or peppered bacon to make it more flavorful, and olive oil is nearly always better than regular vegetable oil for non-sweet dishes. Make it as hot or as mild as you like it. I like mine hot! This is a very tasty red beans and rice recipe and I prefer it hands down to what comes out of a package or from a restaurant.
