This recipe is SPECTACULAR! I was in such a rush to make this for our girls' night that I made many last minute changes and accidentally added things in the wrong order. Despite all that chaos, the soup turned out to be DELICIOUS! All my girlfriends loved it. ; I really think the peppers in the adobo sauce makes the difference. Usually when I deviate from a recipe, it doesn't turn out so well. I believe it was the recipe (and a bit of luck!. I don't think you can go wrong with this one. It's easy to make and fun to experiment with. This will definitely have to become one of my "signature" dishes. Thanks RR!

My entire family loves this recipe! I am not a soup eater, but I can't wait until I make it again! The layered flavors make this soup just delicious! Thank you, Rachael!

WOW! I am not a fan of Totrilla soup, but I can say now that I am. Obviously it had to be the right one. This was the best! I did add black beans, substituted the chiptole peppers for a can of green chili, used frozen corn and rotisserie chicken. This was tasteful and filling.

Unbelievably flavorful and delicious soup. Made this last weekend for a Halloween Party and everyone loved it! Made a few modifications for my family's tastes. I substituted Rotel for the stewed tomatoes which added heat and some kick! Also added chili beans, doubled the cumin and a little more salt and pepper. I served it with shredded Mexican cheese (cheddar & monterey jackand sprinkled baked tortilla strip (in the salad section with the croutons on top. My family loved this and I will share with others.

Wow! We loved this recipe. I added some extra cumin, poultry seasoning and chipotle in adobo sauce because we like lots of flavor and heat, and I also used 4 cups of broth instead of 3. To make it even easier I used rotisserie chicken instead of cooking chicken tenders. This soup is so delicious and flavorful. Definitely going into my favorites file!

I made a lot of modifications based on what I had on hand - leftover chicken roasted chicken breast, no zucchini, frozen corn kernals, no tomato sauce - and it came out DELICIOUS! I pan roasted the corn, red pepper, and onions instead of grilling, still got that nice smokey, charred flavor. I also used fresh tortillas, cut in strips and fried in a little oil, instead of the chips.
The soup was really yummy. My boyfriend said "You can make this again anytime". Around here, that is the highest form of praise for a recipe!

Tortilla soup is always a favorite. The fresh ingredients are a great way to get my son (1 1/2 years old to eat his vegetables and protein. A few variations to consider: adding coriander, lime juice, rinsed black beans, add some rice, substitute a can of green chiles (keeps it milder for kids for the chipotle. I agree with another review which compares this recipe to On The Border's tortilla soup. One other suggestion to save on prep time (because it really is more then 10 minutes, use a fresh roasted chicken from your local market.
