This was NOT good. The banana was overpowering & made everything taste like it, & way too sweet. My husband added hot peppers & leftover stuffing to try to mask the banana taste & he finished his, but one of my sons & myself couldn't get past the first couple of bites. This will go down in infamy at my house as the worst meal ever!

Luckily for me I knew that ground turkey can be tasteless from previous attempts and even tho I couldn't use the poultry seasoning due to it having nutmeg, I had a package of Paul Podhome's poulty spice and i added that liberally! I didn't even add hardly any cheese and mine turned out great. But then I also had applesauce and cranberry with it: Going back for 2nds now. I am so grateful that rachel and Ina are showing all the different ways to do turkey all year esp. since the stores still won't sell turkeys all year long?1

Eh, family did not care for this. A lot of effort & pans. Banana in the sweet potato was deemed unneccesary & unenjoyable by all. I made a sauce pan of gravy, per the recipe, but was not told what to do with it. Was not clear if it was for plating only. I topped the ground turkey & veg with it BEFORE covering with sweet potato. Then my meat layer was wayyy too wet. I thought about how I might revamp this, but decided I would stick with more traditional Sheppards Pie....and my own turkey pot pie...to enjoy the main flavors in the recipe.

I wish I had read the reviews before a spent the money for the ingredients for this shepherd's pie. Quite frankly, my husband & I think it is tastless - even with the hot sauce!

This was amazing my husband and I loved it. I substituted a ripe plantain for the banana and it was perfect! I also added taco seasoning the second time I made it for more flavor.

Lots of pans, instructions not clear, double yuck and waste of time I agree. I love Shepherds pie, and was so looking forward to making this as it did sound yummo! I ended up scraping the sweet potato topping off, and I am going to remake it using Youkon gold potatos. I dont know what to do with the sweet potato topping I scraped off, a thin layer of peas, turkey, and gravy is stuck in it. EDIT: I did indeed scrape off the sweet potatoes, but retopped the pie with regular mashed potaotes and it was yummo. The turkey does indeed give it a twist, but in the future if I have left over turkey more than likely I have left over smashed potatoes. I do like sweet potatoes and now my all time fav receipe is http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/tyler-florence/roasted-sweet-potatoes-with-honey-butter-recipe/index.html

    Its
a healthier alternative to the traditional marshmallow topped sweet potatoe dish, oh and I add a dash of ground cloves.
