love this soup! came out perfectly, and she's right about the whole anchovy thing.

My family and I did not like this soup at all with the gremolata in it. I made this last night and I STILL have a nasty taste in my mouth this morning...I think from the anchovies. I WOULD like to try this soup again, but in a more "traditional" way...add oregano, basil and a few other spices to the soup (as it is a very good base and omit the gramolata. Or at least try it again, but leave out the anchovies. (I would also add the garlic with the carrots, etc. instead of at the end. I've had FAR better recipes from Rachel.

The whole pot went tonight, for 3 people.
I would make 2 pounds of veal next time based on the amount of liquid. Will make this again. Just get all of your ingredients out at once and it goes really fast.

I thought it was very good, and filling!! I actually only made the soup, minus the meatballs and the extra stuff that got mixed in. I did add garlic and parsley while the soup was cooking. I will definitely make it again. Great job, Rachel Ray!

i love rachel rays recipes and almost always give a 5 for every one i try. but this one was different.. it could be my own fault. I had to make some changes in the recipe, such as... believe it or not, the store did not have any lemons so i used lime instead. but for the main dish, i followed recipe exactly.. used ground beef for the meatballs. the meatballs were good. but it just seemed like.. there werent a whole lot of flavor in the dish, just as if everything had the same flavor. also it seemed like there was not enough liquid to cover all the other ingredients. i even added an extra cup of chicken broth yet it still wasn't enough. i don't know. my husband didn't like it and didnt even want to take any for lunch the next day. i might try it one more time with some changes and see if it makes a difference. i was so disappointed because i thought it would be a great dinner and when my husband said he didnt like it, i was sad ;(

This was a hearty and yummy soup. (I know she calls it a stoup but it's really just soup with a lot of stuff in it; the liquid was nowhere near thick enough to qualify as a stew. I used 1/2 veal and 1/2 beef instead of all veal and it was just fine. I found that it took longer than five minutes for the veggies to soften, but otherwise the recipe was super-easy and perfect. I'd definitely make this again because it was so easy and it kept for days in the fridge, making for great leftovers.

This recipe was so amazingly simple and truly does emulate that taste of a slow cooked homemade osso bucco meal. It is awesome and simple and enjoyed by everyone who tastes it.

This is a nice meal, but I may not use veal next time because it is so rich.
