Tasted great and easy! I altered it after reading other reviews and followed ssnyder7385 and used frozen mixed berry and ready made crust. It needed a little more sweetness after the alteration so I will follow the original 1c sugar ( I used turbinado sugar but add 1/4 c flour . I also used half whole wheat pastry flour and half unbleached flour and it tasted very good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Thanks for the recipe, I'll make it again.

This was great!, I altered it after reading the other reviews to just 1/2 of sugar and I added a 1/4 cup extra of flour to balance it because I removed the dry sugar. I used the butter by covering the fruit with the remaining dry ingredient mixture then cutting the butter into pats, and just putting them all over the top before I covered the pie with the top pie crust. I also added Strawberries sliced to my fruit to add some sweetness b/c the black berries and raspberries were very tart.
I cut slits into the top of the pie and baked it for about 55 minutes at 375, not 350 b/c I read how it was very runny, so I wanted to dry up some of the juices, and mine was not runny at all.
Made some homemade whipped cream and topped it with that! My husband said I may have found a new career, so I'm thinking that meant it was a hit!

I used a ready made crust and followed the recipe for the filling. I was impressed with the ease with which the filling was made and the time it took to bake the pie. The recipe didn't saying what to do with the butter but I stired it into the flour , sugar mixture. My family and I enjoyed the pie even though it was a bit too sweet for my taste. I reccomened the recipe to some friends and plan on making it again with less sugar.

Very good and simple pie recipe. I used a pre-made (but not pre-baked Pillsbury crust. There was too much of the flour/sugar mixture for my 8-9" pie pan and it came out a little too sweet. The berries are sweet enough, so I'd cut down on the flour/sugar mixture. Also the recipe doesn't tell you what to do with the butter. Dot the butter on top of the berries before the pie crust topping goes on.

Mine was very soupy until chilled in the refrigerator over night. I think less sugar/flour and maybe a lattice style top would help the juices evaporate more.

I added a few more cups of berries including strawberries to fill the pie a little more and it came out delicious. Really juicy and perfectly sweet.

This was super easy to throw together & everyone loved it! I did cut down the sugar & I used a store bought crust to save some time.

I agree with sunsetr. cut down the sugar to 3/4 c. First time I made this pie, I didn't know where to place the 1.5 T butter. So I left it out. I took sunsetr's advice the second time I made this pie and....wow, did it make a difference!

This is an excellent recipe. I use my mother's recipe for the pie crust but this one is good too. The filling calls for a cup of sugar and one might think that will make it too sweet. However, this time of year when the berries are out of season and more tart, it was the perfect amount of sugar--not to sweet; not to tart. My brother-in-law liked this pie so much at Thanksgiving that he requested I bake him one of these pies just for him and his girlfriend.

Try adding the zest and juice of one blood orange to the berry filling. Excellent!

This recipe is out of this world good. The pie was just soooo delicious, and it melted in my mouth. The only critique I would give is to use just slightly less sugar. The filling calls for 1 cup - I would use 3/4 cup of sugar. Also, the instructions were not clear on what to do with the 1.5 tablespoons of butter. In fact, you cut it up and dab it on top of the berries, and leave it there all over the pie. Otherwise, amazing. One of the best pies I have eaten.
