Her form is perfect. I was taught to use the dredging flour-then the gravy will have the same spice content as the meat. Do you realize she made FIVE POUNDS OF POTATOES??? Divide that out and see how much butter is an a serving and I think you will be very surprised--I'll bet you use a lot more per serving than that on your baked potato.

I am delighted to see Ree on Food TV. I have been following her blog for three years--she is a delight and a REAL person!

This was the BEST Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy I've ever eaten or made. Easy directions, fantastic mashed potato recipe too! My husband and son in law said "It's the BEST ever"

I love Ree! I have been following her website for the past year. I also love how some people post nasty comments about her. If you don't like her then don't watch! Simple as that.......

FINALLY!! A cook on tv who knows how to make white gravy properly! This is how my grandma, my mom and I've made gravy for years. Nothing else compares. Yay for Ree!

I was so excited to make this for my guys, after watching Ree's episode this morning. It was a huge hit! They loved it! : A great hearty meal for Sunday dinner. Thank you for sharing real American family recipes.... and newsflash...if ya don't wanna use a whole stick of butter then don't! : For a huge pile of mashed potates it works out to being only about tsp per serving. Chill out!

I have made this recipe, and yes use the left over dreged flower in the gravy, NEVER had any problems and won't because you cook it DONE, no body living in there to make you ill. My BUD loves them. I also made this with a round steak, pounded the daylights out of it, comes out soooooo good. If you are in a hurry, throw a potato or two in the microwave and bake them while making the steak and gravy.

OH, and have you tried this recipe with chicken breasts that you have pounded with a rolling pen to get them flat? OH so good also. Chicken fried Chicken.
I have 12 pounds of butter in my fridge and freezer at all times.

You do need to be careful with this one. The oil needs to be at the right temp or else it will be greasy. Also, I noticed on the TV show, she said not to use anything less than whole milk for the gravy. I have been making this gravy for years with skim milk. Why? It's what I have on hand. Also, there is already plenty of grease in the skillet.
