I've made this recipe several times from her blog and was glad to see her include it on her first episode. It has a lot of flavor and I love the thickness of the flour/batter/flour coating.

@justfluffyme123...here's the recipe for her Sunrise Punch:
Sunrise Punch recipe:
2 cups orange juice
2 cups pineapple juice
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons meringue powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
Fill rest of blender with ice and blend! Yummy.
I haven't tried the country fried steak yet, but planning on doing so this week. I just happened to catch this episode by pure luck. I am SO glad I did. :-

I made this last night and it was very good. You don't have to worry about using the dredging flour for the gravy. The gravy is cooked to the boiling point so any cross contamination will be destroyed by the high heat.

Very tastey... also the comment on goverment money , I would rather my tax money go to preserving an american lifestyle such as farming and ranches.Grandaughter of a dairy farmer I know just how hard this lifestyle is to maintain, in the state of our economy today, and they feed us all!

I've prepared chicken fried steak (and fried chicken gravy this way for years - so glad to see Ree does the same! Using the dredging flour for gravy is the only way to go - it's seasoned already and you're not wasting anything. For those that don't know how to make gravy - the flour is cooked in the fat and meat juices and cooked some more when the milk is added - my family has not spent one second of their lives in the emergency room with food poisoning. This is a great recipe and the steak is delicious.
Ree's show is refreshing and different - I'll be sure to watch every episode. Have followed her blog for years...congratulations, Ree!

Perfect - a cut of meat I have not bought before and didn't know what to do with it. My husband loved it and so did I. In these tough times, a cheap cut of meat that tastes like this is a wonderful find. Thank you!

Loved the show!! I am from OK, and it was wonderful to see such a beautifully filmed, regional show. Have made this recipe from Ree's website and it is delicious. As she said, we certainly do not eat like this on a daily basis, but do enjoy an occasional indulgence. People need to remember that if one is very active, as these people are, it will not hurt you to eat some butter on occasion.
