As noted below, this is a hit! Made as written except used 4 cups frozen corn kernels as it is not fresh corn season. I used a green pepper in lieu of the yellow pepper just for additional color contrast. This dish will be a frequent visitor at my winter table.

This was quick, easy and all so tasty! We skipped the bread bowls and opted for regular serving bowls... Next time I'll add two extra pieces of bacon and salt and pepper to taste...just our personal taste buds talking! We had it last night for dinner. My husband loved it. We were quite full and satisfied with the chowder alone. I've already recommended this recipe to three people this morning!

Great!!!! I followed several others and cooked the bacon first. Used the bacon grease and butter to saute vegetables. Since corn is out of season, I used 3 3/4 cup of frozen corn. Served it for supper with som hot crusty bread. This chowder was so good and so easy to make, it will be a staple in my menus.

Loved it!! I did modify it to what I had on hand. I only had precooked bacon, and I used a can of chopped green chilis in place of one of the bell peppers and I used grated cheddar and jack. It was so yummy, that I had another bowl as a midnite snack. I like to make the recipe as written just once. But this was so good even though I had substitues and so filling. I baked chicken and let each person shred their own. My family loved it too, there was very little leftover. I gave it 5 stars because it's fast, easy and can be modified easily to what you have on hand. I will definitely make this again and again.

Sitting here unable to finish a second bowl of it. Because I'm stuffed. It's SO GOOD! wow..
Definitely make sure not to overcook your veggies before adding the liquids, so the veggies stay tender-crisp and don't get mushy. I added a tablespoon of cornstarch dissolved into a couple tablespoons of milk to add to the simmering soup because, after 20 minutes, it wasn't thickened quite as much as I like. Even if you're not much a soup fan, like me, give this a try! I can't wait to try it with variations suggested in the reviews, like using chicken. Thanks Ree! another home run recipe!

I really did like this chowder but the bell pepper flavor really took over (only used 2 the corn flavor. It was creamy but had the crunch of the corn. I think next time I make this, I will eliminate the bell pepper altogether. I like the other comments about adding chicken or crab to take this over the top.

I had never tasted Corn Chowder Soup but watching Ree cook that on a Sunday morning was irresistable so I went to the store & bought the ingredients. WOW! I was not dissapointed! I think I will add chicken or crab meat next time for the family and maybe just a pinch of cayenne pepper: Thank you Ree!

Ree has become one of my favorite chefs. No frills, just good common sense food. I made the soup tonight but changed a few ingredients. Sauteed the onions, celery and 4 diced red potoates until softend. Sprinkled with Wondra flour, added chicken stock and half and half until slightly thickened A drained can of Fiesta corn and an 8 oz package of shredded Pepper Jack cheese and 1 tsp of Old Bay seasoning. An 8 oz. can of drained lump crab meat right before serving. Used crisp bacon bits, shredded Monterey Jack/Cheddar Cheese and diced scallions as condiments. I adore cilantro so added that to my bowl. This is a hearty delicious soup and can't wait to prepare again!!!

I almost missed this. I just happened to catch the very end of The Pioneer Woman show and decided to visit the Food Network site for the recipe. I'm glad I did. My family loved this recipe. I have a member of my family that is unable to eat food that is even the smallest amount of spicy (pepper jack cheese. When it was almost done, I put half of the soup in another pot and added the pepper jack cheese. We'll definitely have this again.
