Are you kidding me? This sauce is infalible. Made it, for bakery apple strudel, put left overs in a a ceramic syrup pitcher, and reheated as needed. So delicious and so better than store bought! Thanks Ree.

Fantastic and so easy to make. It will thicken as it cools, be patient!

my sauce did thicken as it cooled, but it also got gritty...like the sugar solidified again. Was it not cooked long enough? If I heat it back up will the sugar dissolve again? Or do I need to add something more ..butter or half & half?? @catmaster555 - I would never have considered baking soda to make it thicken, cornstarch maybe..?? I can't imagine the taste with baking soda in it. Did that actually work?

I give this 5 stars because of how easy this was to make, and for the great flavor it had. I previously tested a different recipe that called for water but it came out horribly. Put all of your ingredients in a saucepan, then turn the burner on. Stir and let simmer for the said time period. It will still be slightly runny- mine thickened up perfectly when i transferred it into a mug and left at room temp (or put in the fridge. The flavor is simple but amazing- does not taste too much like botterscotch- the cream is what makes it perfect. I added bourbon vanilla to it and poured it on top of an Irish Cream Cheesecake- got *rave* reviews for all who tried it. I made 3 batches of this caramel in one day because it's so easy. Yields about 1 cup. Thank you, Ree!!

This was so good!!! It was so easy too. I first tried to make a caramel sauce from another website, and it turned out really bitter. I think I cooked the sugar for a tad too long. But this recipe makes it nearly impossible to cook the sugar too long since it's in the cream while cooking. Love it! And at first I thought it wasn't thickening right, but you just have to be patient. It did take a little longer than the recipe says, and it continued to thicken once I took it off the heat. Awesome recipe!!

Was excited for an easy recipe but after cooking for 20 minutes I couldn't get mine to thicken. Added baking soda and am hoping it will thicken when it cools and taste okay.

caramel is chilling in the refrigerator now. It was very easy! Definitely a go-to recipe. We will be drizzling this over apple slices when the kids come home from school!

Oh my Gosh! This was the easiest recipe ever! I didn't even have half and half just used 2% milk and forgot the salt and vanilla and it still turned out awesome! Can only guess what it will taste like when I follow the recipe completely.
