I've tried to make caramel sauce in the past and it never came out right..( it always tasted burnt .....However, this recipe was so easy and it came out perfect. I had it on flat apple pie last night and on ice cream today yummy.

We entertained last night and I made everything from this episode. Right before we were seated for dinner, I put the butter, brown sugar and half and half into a saucepan and covered it with NO heat. As people were finishing the main course, I turned the heat on low, and the timing was about perfect! Apple pie, vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce drizzled over it...YUM!

This sauce is very good and perfect for the flat apple pie. It would be good on just about any dessert.

This was a fantastic basic caramel sauce. It was divine on the flat apple pie and I could see using this on my bread pudding and other desserts. This would make a great gift from the kitchen in cute jars.

I have searched and searched for an easy and delicious caramel sauce and HERE IT IS! Ree has so many really good recipes. I visit her blog regularly and bought her first cookbook. Her recipe for fried pork chops is a staple in my recipe file.

Made this tonight to go with Ree's flat apple pie, but messed it up somehow. It never got thick or changed color to the more translucent caramel color. That said, it still tasted good, so I'll have to try it again and see where I went wrong.

I willl never buy caramel sauce again, this is the easiest sauce I've ever made. I WAS GOING to be using it on some Molten lava cakes so I addedd 3 squares of bittersweet chocolate to make it into a chocolate caramel sauce, turned out great. Thanks!
