I love this recipe,I have made the pie crust also.I have even tried it with the store brand pie crust also, but my husband does like the home-made pie crust better.I added 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and a couple of sprinkle's of nutmeg. Also added some raisin's with the apple mixture, soooo yumy.I used a slotted spoon to drain the liquid while adding to the crust so it wouldn't drain out and make a mess on the baking sheet.Thank you Ree,this will alway's be a family favorite for us.

OMG.... thank you so much. I have tried to make Apple pie before and they never turn out.... especially the crust... this was easy and soooooooo good..... too much for just one person, but I got to give one away..... thank you again and I really like your show. I will use this recipe for crust on all my "Crust" recipes..... thank you again.

First apple pie I have ever attempted to make because I was a fan of the "Rustic" style. My crust definitely looked rustic all right! It was a little tough to move it from the counter to the pan so I used a huge cake spatula and that was a big help. Also, I baked it on a stoneware jelly roll pan and it turned out perfect. Very Yummy!

Mine was less then perfect and super "rustic". I really want to get better at making pie crusts and will try this again after I watch her demonstration on tv. I used my food processor and must have processed too much. Still smells yummy as it is cooking can't wait to taste.

This is the best pie crust I've ever had or made. The apple pie filling was good, I added a touch of cinnamon, but the crust and the rustic presentation made it a 5 star recipe for me. I made the crust in my food processor which was fast and easy, then chilled it for 30 minutes before rolling it out. Drizzled over the PW's Easy Caramel Sauce before serving it to my family. It was amazing!

This one is a keeper... I'm definitely a cook, not a baker, but this pie crust is so simple to make and SO DELICIOUS, I love making it! My husband asks me to make this recipe at least once a week or so. We love these delicious little pies and I have also used the crust for quiche recipes.

I am of senior citizen age and long ago gave up trying to make a decent pastry crust. Yesterday, I was preparing a meat and potato pie and realized I didn't have a boxed pie crust in the frig or the cupboard. So out came Ree's recipe for the "perfect" pie crust. I was highly skeptical, but I DID IT! I made a perfect pie crust that melted in our mouths. My husband was so impressed he asked that I make another pie today. I believe the combination of butter and shortening, as well as the addition of vinegar, is the basis for this incredible pie crust. Thanks Ree.

Great recipe! I used a already made crust . The juice leaked out , I realized that it had a crack in it.

It was wonderful! I have been looking for a flaky pie crust recipe. The juice did leak out but part of the problem was I didn't seal the dough
when I put it on the tray. It had a little crack in it. Also I have an
electric oven--next time I will let it bake at a little lower Temp.
