Made these for the Superbowl party and they were a hit!! They are very rich so I cut them in half and brought half to work...everyone loved them!! As others have said, unwrapping and melting the caramels took some time but it was sooooo worth it...the top layer is a bit tricky and I will try the refrigeration method next time so it sets up better. Thanks, Ree, for another great recipe!!

Awesome desert recipe! Follow the directions and let the brownies cool and set before trying to handle.

Wow, wow, wow, these were sooo delish. I followed the recipe exactly. Melting the caramels took a little while but, so worth it. My husband is not a big chocolate fan (i don't understand it either and he could not get enough. I also pressed the top layer on plastic wrap which made the transfer a little easier, next time I think I 'll sit it in the fridge to firm while I melt the caramels. Instead of half the mixture on the bottom, I think I 'll put more because the caramel was so dense it seemed to penatrate to the bottom. This reminds me of turtle chocolates and I love turtles! Best brownie I've had in a long time! Thank you for sharing!

Made these for a super bowl party and they were delicious! Next time, I will have to line the bottom of the pan next time because it was a little sticky, too hard to cut. But worth it! Will make again...

Wonderful!!! Couldn't find caramel squares so I used sauce, it bubbled out and made a mess in the oven, BUT when I tasted them it was worth ever scrub of the oven floor!!! I don't know if I'll ever make plain brownies again!

Absolutley fabulous, these were a great hit at the Super Bowl party. Carmels took a bit of time to melt, i think the issue there was because I had doubled the recipe. I took the advice of another review and used plastic wrap on the bottom of the pan and molded the top layer, then removed the plastic wrap with the soon to be top layer. I highly recomend smaller pieces as they are very rich. However you can not just have one.
