These brownies truly are amazing: my favorite brownie recipe ever, and I've made them many times for years. However, they are not PW's recipe. In fact, I posted this recipe to her Tasty Kitchen site a few years ago, and I'm not the one who invented the recipe, either. So it's not really fair to give Ree credit for it, but at least we can thank her for sharing it with everyone else!

These are amazing. A few suggestions. Following another reviewer I line the baking pan with Saran and add the first 1/2 of the dough and even it out then remove the dough in the saran put it in a dinner plate and put it in the freezer while the first part is baking. I nuke the caramel and milk for 1 min 30 sec in a pyrex bowl and stir like crazy and that seems to do the trick. I add Andes mint chips with chocolate chips to the caramel. Now the top is added easily after it stiffens. I wait 15 min before baking it again to let the top soften a bit.

Just took my 9X9 pan of Knock-You-Naked Brownies out of the oven. I was wondering if I really had to wait until they were chilled to eat one. From the reviews, it looks like I do. Bummer! I went by the recipe, except that I used 1/2 cup of the chololate morsels and I melted them in the same double-boiler (with 1 tablespoon of evaporated milk after pouring the melted caramels over the first layer of brownies. I drizzled the melted chocolate morsels over the caramels, then took two toothpicks and swirled the melted caramels and chocolate together before adding the second layer of brownie batter. Looking forward to the end result - tomorrow, that is! Happy eating!

I did it today, and is perfect. Only change is I used one bag of caramels only.

I made these today and they are, hands down, the best brownies I have ever eaten. The only changes to the recipe were that I used 50 caramels instead of 60 (so that I wouldn't have to buy another bag and my pan was a couple of inches longer. PERFECT!

Nice twist on brownies by using the german chocolate cake mix. Loved the caramel layer. Next time I would use more chocolate chips.

Loved it! My dough wasn't as stiff as Ree's, so I had to spoon the 2nd layer over the top, but it was very good. Next time I am going to use Smucker's caramel ice cream topping instead of unwrapping all the caramels, easier and quicker. I think it should work.

I have to admit I haven't eaten them yet, but can't wait! I received brownies like this quite a few Christmases ago, but it took awhile to find a recipe. Kraft has come out with caramel bits, which meant I did not have to unwrap 60 candies : Just poured the pieces into the bowl with the milk and it took 2 minutes in the micro, I did stir for at least a minute, but definitely better than unwrapping the caramels.

These brownies are DE-lish! NOTE: Make sure you chill them well before eating for the full experience. I initially tasted them after cooling out of the oven - thinking they would be yummier while still warm - and surprisingly wasn't terribly impressed. HOWEVER - then tasted them again the next day after they had chilled overnight in the fridge and they were SUPER yummy! This is an occasion when chilled caramel & chocolate truly makes all the difference in the world!

My family loved this brownie recipe! They were delicious and did not taste like a cake mix recipe at all. I will make them again, but, personally, I prefer Ina Garten's Outrageous brownies
