The scone itself was good, but I had to add about 5-7 more tablespoons of cream. It was too dry. But, after adding the additional cream, the texture was light, airy, and I loved the chopped pecans. BUT the frosting RUINED the scones. What the heck is that sweet, sticky frosting doing on any pastry? It was awful. I ruined perfectly good scones with that disgusting frosting. And I love my sweets. But that was way too much.

These were great! The kids loved them. I used whole wheat flour and I only made 1/4 of the frosting recipe to cut back on some of the sugar since I was serving them for breakfast, it made just enough for a thin layer. Kids are already asking for them again!

I received one of Ree's cookbooks for Christmas and this recipe was in the book. Made them on New Year's Day for breakfast. I thought they were fabulous! Very flaky with a wonderful flavor. The recipe made 8 , so I took a few over to my neighbors. They called and told me "they were freakin' awesome", so they were loved by all. I did agree with another reviewer, it made way more frosting needed. I will be making these again.

The scones were easy to make. My husband thought they tasted like shortbread or pecan sandies. The icing has a definite maple taste...it reminded me of the maple icing on donuts. Overall we enjoyed them, but we will probably stick with our family's scone recipe.

The icing on these was amazing and the saving grace. I felt that the scones tasted too flour-y...possibly needed an extra tablespoon or 2 of liquid. I would definitely make these again with a touch more liquid (I used half & half. Also, I made 1/2 the amount of icing and it was perfect. This still gave a thick layer of icing over the entire scone. Yum, the maple icing was SO good!
