This is one of my all-time favorite recipes. I have made it many times for my family, and they scarf it down. Until I found this recipe, I had not mastered pot roast, and was so frustrated. Now, I make pot roast every couple of weeks, have made it for company and for friends needing a home cooked meal. The creamy mashed potatoes are a great complement!

This roast was AWESOME. I have not been able to master the perfect roast until now. This was SO good and I was actually surprised that it came out well. I took her advice about what type of roast (chuck to get too and I think that made a world of difference. I did not add the optional red wine. We ended up shredding it and putting it over mashed potatoes, made some brown gravy and poured it over everything - YUM. Highly recommend.

Unbelievably delish. I didn't use wine (decided to drink that cup or so that remained in the bottle and cracked open a 32 oz carton of broth instead. Worked like a charm. I have never made a pot roast that has come out like this... I threw in a couple of sad looking parsnips I had hiding in the fridge... I even had the fresh herbs lying around for some strange reason... Just the most incredible dish. Don't hate me... but I was running late and used INSTANT (!!! baby red potatoes... can't remember the name but was floored by them @ Costco about a year ago and keep them on hand for last minute "oh crud, I didn't make potatoes." I also defatted the juices by using my turkey baster. Seriously... I can't give this enough praise. I'm getting rid of all of my other recipes!

Saw your episode on this and I just had had HAD to make this. It looked too delicious to pass up. And my gosh, it was unbelievable! My husband loves this recipe and I have made it twice so far. I just added potatoes and mushrooms to the recipe to make it even more hearty. I kept this recipe!

This woman can do no wrong. Everything and I mean everything I have made so far has come out fantastic!!! This was so good and made really good leftovers. Did not change a thing in this recipe, no need to Ree knows what she is doing.

Wonderful and delicious, as a first time roast-er! Served it with egg noodles, and it was scrumptious!

This is a great recipe, and produced the best roast I've ever made. I'll definitely add potatoes to the mix next time.

Super recipe. I added rose potatoes since I had them. I cut them into quarters and added them with the onions and carrots before putting it in the oven. Wonderful recipe!!!!!
