This is the best salsa recipe around. I've tried so many since we eat a lot of salsa, and is the perfect liking for our family. You can always add more spice if you want like jalapenos. One jalapeno is good for us.

Ridiculously good. With those posting "problems" as to why they couldn't give this recipe a 5 star.............Taste people as you go! Everyone has different tastes, some have to prepare so children can eat, etc. If you like garlic......add more garlic, if you really like cilantro............add a lot more, etc. Recipe is good base and coming from a girl that can just about drink Paso Hot Picante all by itself............wont' be buying any premade stuff again. Thanks Ree and keep up the good work. We appreciate!

saw this episode on t.v. and decided, since i would be hosting a "cinco" party, that i'd try it....recieved rave reviews from my guests, in fact, several asked if it came from one of our favorite mexican restaurants! the only thing i added was a bit more salt and i'll add another jalapeno next time....

I am surprised at the reviews, this salsa is very bland if you follow it exactly. The ratio of seasonings to the amount of tomato is WAYYY off. I had to add way more salt, cumin, lime, onion, and cilantro because all you could taste was unsalted tomato. one 28oz can and two 10oz cans equal to 3lb of tomato. 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 3lb of tomato??? I would make this salsa again because the seasonings work well if you use the right portions.

Just made a batch of this salsa and it is fantastic! I have an aversion to cilantro, so I substituted ground coriander instead. Just remember to process in two or more batches or you will have a puddle of tomato juice oozing from your food processor!!

I've been making salsa with this recipe for a few years now- I've given it to neighbors and friends during the holidays with a bag of tortilla chips, everyone loves it! It's so good, and so easy. Enough fresh ingrendients to taste like 'fresh' salsa although you're using canned tomatoes. Makes a big batch. I usually drain the rotel tomatoes ( it's a little too runny for my taste and one jalapeño is plenty for us. Awesome recipe! I'll be making it for cinco de mayo tomorrow!

I started making this a few months ago and we no longer buy salsa. This is the "real deal" and living in San Antonio, TX, we oughta know. I've varied it several times, using two jalapenos or one or two serranos. The last time, I even sliced up some canned pickled jalapenos. All good!
Now, I always pierce the tomatoes in the colander to make it less wet.

Easy, fast, and tasty! I used my Vitamix blender and it was big enough. One jalepeno was pretty mild, so if you like your salsa spicy you might want to use two. Will definitely make again.

Yes, this is pretty good and very fast and works well if you don't have time to make the salsa totally from scratch with all non-canned ingredients. However, I love lime zest in any of my salsas and it surely does add a lovely touch to this. BTW, you CAN make this in a 2-cup processor, just do it in stages. I don't grind up the petite diced tomatoes or the Rotel's, so it really is very quick to make. AND so tasty!
