I LOVE this recipe!!! Although after I had read other reviews, I added diced onion in with my beef, added a can of diced tomatos when it began to simmer, and simmered it with beef broth because I though it was too dry. Everyone LOVED it!! HUGE HIT!! Will definetly go into rotation!! Although I wish there was a way not to use the Masa because I dont have any other recipe besides this one that I would use it in!! Cant wait to have leftovers tomorrow!!

Ever since I found the recipe for Ellie's Three Bean and Beef Chili here on food network I have never made any other recipe. However Ellie's recipe isn't great for other uses, like chili dogs or baked potatoes. This recipe really is simple, perfect chili. Not only is it way too easy, but the flavor is awesome! We used leftovers for a week about 4 different ways. I did have to add more liquid like the other's have said, but I like the fact that you can really easily control the thickness with water and/or masa. LOVE PW!!

I made this and used the pinto beans I made the day before. Very filling and I agree about the lack of liquid when simmering. I believe I'll add in a beer next time ! My other tweek was a dash of cinnamen. Enjoy Ree and PW is my new favorite show can't wait for next week

This was very good. Very simple. I did add add some onion to the ground beef as suggested. When the recipe says to simmer, there was no liquid to simmer (you are adding 8oz of tomato sauce to 2lbs of ground beef, where does the liquid come from?. So as suggested I added some beef broth (along with some diced tomatoes. I will be making this again, with the minor modifications.

Making this later today for supper sans beans. Using leftovers for tacos tomorrow. Actually never have leftovers so I have to set aside what I need for tomorrow's tacos before I serve this up tonight. Really simple and tasty chili. Purists will sneer but it is a great tasting family chili. I do add a medium chopped onion to the ground beef when browning it.

Excellent!!!!! So simple but very tasty. The only thing I changed was to add a 15 oz. can of beef broth as the consistency was too thick. This is not your average soupy chili. Very meaty. Yum.

This recipe is fantastic! I too have searched a long time for a chili recipe I loved and, more importantly, would keep going back to. This chili is so simple to make. I only made a few modifications, one of which was to saute half a small onion first until it was slightly translucent. Also, I found that I needed quite a bit of liquid at the end while it simmered. Instead of water I used beef stock and ended up using almost half the container. With the addition of the masa, which adds a nice nutty flavor, the chili tightened up too much for my liking, which is why I added more stock at the end. Great basic chili recipe and a must try!

Just made this today and after tasting, I already know it will be a staple recipe in my kitchen. It's really good! I have searched for an easy, but very flavorful chili for years and this is it. I did add a can of Hunts seasoned tomato sauce for chili along with the can called for. I also probably added 3T chili powder. I didn't have cayenne so I used some red pepper flakes. My family will love this!

Simply wonderful! I am not a cook and so I rarely use my kitchen for cooking but my family loves chili so I thought I would try this recipe. It was very easy to make and the family raved through out dinner. This chili recipe is a keeper!
