Love this chili recipe. I always use a 15 oz can of tomato sauce though. The 8 oz is definitely not enough liquid, at least for me. Anyway, it's simple and always comes out awesome!

I've made this chili twice already and absolutely love how simple and delicious this is. The only recommendation I have after making my first batch was that it was pretty salty. So the second time I made this I used tomato sauce with no salt. This made a world of difference because I was able to control the salt level to my liking. This chili is very versatile in every way- I've made with both ground beef and ground turkey, no difference in taste. I've also used pinto and black beans. This chili is great with cornbread and great for frito chili pie. Thanks Ree for sharing this wonderful recipe.

What is different about this recipe? It's like any other chili recipe out there. The corn flour gives it a bit of corn flavor but we put cornbread into our chili when we eat in anyway. It's not worth buying the corn flour for this recipe. And as others said, there is almost no liquid so I had to adjust seasonings after adding liquid. There are easier chili recipes out there that take even less time. You missed it this time, Ree. Love some of your other recipes though.

This is my go-to chili recipe. I do make mine with a few variations but that's why I love Ree's recipes because they are so easy to customize to your own taste.

Awesome chili, and I should know being Hispanic and making an awesome chili myself. It's great by itself but I like mine a bit hotter/spicier, so I just added a bit more chili poweder and a packet of hot Taco seasoning. I did follow the advice of a couple of other reviewers and added a red bell pepper and a can of spicy stewed tomatoes. Thanks for a great chili Ree.

Made this for the 2nd time last night. Recipe lives up to its name. Everyone loves it: husband, my parents, neighbors, church members. Like other reviewers here I also took the liberty of making some modifications. I decreased the amount of red meat by half, added a can of rinsed black beans, 1/2 tsp of chipotle chili powder, another 15 oz of tomato sauce, 2 tblsp of tomato paste, half a cup each of chopped yellow onion & green pepper. I've also made this chili with chopped red, yellow & orange bell peppers to equal about 2/3 cup. As others on this forum have stated, this recipe is both a great starting point for chili variations or delicious just as written.
