This was amazing. My new go to chili recipe. My husband loved it as well
I do think for those who are not seasoned cooks that this documented recipe is not fair. I don't think that we should have to add to make the recipe right or accurate. For that matter delete an item. I obviously don't know Ree. Would she want the recipe as it stands to be out there? I concider myself a good cook. Two pounds of ground beef and only an 8Oz. tomato sausechchili and beans that are supposed to be drained does not equal a very saucey chili. If you keep adding water you will loose the flavors.Ree is one of my favorites. I just think it needs to be reposted.

Good basic chili recipe. You will need to add more liquid as it very dry. I added a can of Mexican stewed tomatoes and a can of Rotel tomatoes. Has a little zing but is not spicy.

Crazy simple yields crazy good! I did double tomato sauce but otherwise followed as outlined. Shockingly easy.

Hi, I made this yesterday for my grandson's birthday party and everyone loved it. I doubled the recipe, did however need an extra can of tomato sauce. My husband likes it hotter so will probably add little extra heat next time. One helping left over which my husband was vey happy to take for lunch. I used to make a recipe of my brother's but this one is soooo much easier. Will definitely make again & again. Love to watch the show, thanks for this recipe!

This turned out to be more of a chili "base". The finished dish resembled some sort of taco bean dip. I had make a second trip to the grocery to somehow save supper, and ended up adding a mixture of chopped onion, 15 oz. can of diced tomatoes, 10 oz. can of diced green chiles, 15 oz. tomato sauce, and tripling the spice mixture from the original recipe. I gave the recipe a second star only because I like the use of the harina slurry, which was generous considering I had to pay $6.00 for a 4lb. bag of the stuff when the recipe only calls for a 1/4 cup.

Great base recipe for Chile. I followed other reviewers advise and doubtled the spices as well as added a can of diced tomatoes. I did not have any masa so I used 2 TBSP cornmeal and 2TBSP flour mixed with a little water for a thickener and it added a wonderful flavor and consistency . I also added a full cup of addtional water with the tomatoes. It was the best Chile I have made and I highly recommend this recipe as a base - many may prefer the milder flavor of the spices as published which is great for little ones.
