This was an amazing Chili recipe. I was worried after reading some of the reviews, but the combination of spices was perfect! I did use half of the meat the recipe calls for and I did not use the masa harina (since I couldn't find it in my grocery store, and I think that these alterations to the recipe kind of cured the problems that were complained of (that there wasn't enough liquid and that there was too much meat. Super good recipe though!

Just got up from the table ... Awesome dish! Why because it was the exact heat for me and Hubby could add a dash of Tabasco, or other hot pepper to suit his taste. Flavors melded well, just GOOD SIMPLE CHILI, the possibilities are endless! As the old commercial said ... "Try it you'll like it" LOL

Love this recipe because I love cooking with cast iron and this was perfect for that. My family does not like spicy or hot food so I was a little worried about that. They all loved it and not a single complaint. There are 4 of us and only one serving of left overs after all the second serving were taken. I had to Change the recipe a little. We like onions so added them with garlic. Also it took a 16 oz can of tomato sause and about a cup of water. The corn flour was great and added a lot to the taste. We didn't understand what to do with the limes though.

Very bland. Maybe double the spices next time.

My 4 year old daughter loves it with Fritos!!! I make it just for her every two or three weeks. She loves it mixed with scrambled eggs for breakfast. It's delicious! :-D

The easiest best tasting ever. I threw out all my other chili recipes which I no longer need.

Loved the taste! Just had to add a little more water than I wanted because it was very dry to begin with, but overall it was pretty good.

Well today is Nov 18th 2012 6:18 pm USA, Illinois, in Chicago suburb, and I am in the simmer for an hour stage and it smells great in here already! I'm making modifications such as ground turkey, extra can of tom sauce and doubling the spices, also I'm using one can of diced tomatoes with the beans (pinto and kidney, still one can each-dont like a lot of beans adding sugar to taste. Definitely not using the masa will substitute it for cornmeal and flour.

This tasted like taco meat with some canned beans added. Not much in the way of flavor, so adding water doesn't help at all. I would adding a chopped onion while browning the meat, double the tomato sauce and add a can of chopped tomatoes. A can of tomatoes with chilis would be even better. I'm not a professional cook or chef, but I know how to follow directions. It just wasn't very good.
