Good flavor. I don't put beans in Chili so I left it out and also if you take corn tortillas and pulse them in a food processor you can make your own masa.

It was gone in a day and that never happens with chili so I had to give it a 5!

Putting beans in chili in Texas is a hanging offense so I used recipe as listed less the beans and did some seasoning to taste and as suggested and it is great. Thanks, Ree.

We all loved it!! I made it in the morning and then reheated it over the campfire that night when we were camping. I did add a can of tomatoes along with the sauce. I also had to use way more chili powder than called for. I probably used 1/4 c. when it was all said and done. Taste as you go and adjust as she says. I'll definitely be making it again.

This chili is "perfect" & "simple"! I halved the recipe and used lean ground beef. While the beef was browning, I added half of an onion and a green pepper. I had no problem with the mixture becoming to dry while it simmered for an hour. I didn't have masa harina so I used half flour and half white cornmeal instead. Along with the beans, I added a can of diced tomatoes, a little sugar, and about a cup of water. This is the only chili recipe I need, thanks Ree!!!

My hubby made this recipe and took it to our neighborhood chili cookoff yesterday. It won 2nd place!!! Deliciously simple, and edible to pretty much everyone. My husband likes his a bit more spicy, but you can always pump it up as desired, or serve hot sauce on the side. For me, it would be the perfect chili for adding to things... like hot dogs, etc. I love that it can easily be made ahead and frozen. You must watch the video.

This is the first recipe by Ree that I have tried. I followed the recipe exactly. The chili is delicious. The recipe is simple, and the ingredient list is simple. The time it takes to complete the meal is good (compared with what it could be...It is a great recipe for Moms who need to feed a family but don't want to spend all day in the grocery store or the kitchen. As the reipe says, if you want your chili loose, add water. I did (1 cup initially and about 3 or 4 half cups at intervals. The taste wasn't diluted for me; it was still seasoned well. I will absolutely make it again. I gave it 4 stars because it was a good, solid dish, but it wasn't "to die for" (as is the coconut shrimp dish is, which I rated a 5.

Yum yum yum. For the men in our house, this is so simple, easy and meaty! I did use beef broth though to get it more fluid. This is a keeper. Thanks!

I'm not sure why people give this a bad (and sometimes mean-spirited review. I've been making this since Ree's first cookbook came out. It taught me how to make chili and how to use masa flour, which btw I love the subtle corn flavor it adds! Ree calls this simple perfect chili and that's what it is. In her book she writes it as a base that you can add too. I for one always add brown sugar, ketchup and extra chili powder per my personal tastes. I don't think that discounts this recipe at all. I usually do have to add water at the simmering stage but it's a half cup at most. In the book Ree suggests adding in a can of diced tomatoes and green chilies (I.e. Rotel and I think that really adds to the recipe! This is in NO way tasteless Texan Hamburger dip...haha.
