Flavor was good but mine came out very thin. I would make the recipe again but use a 9x9 pan instead.

I tried this recipe tonight and followed the recipe but replaced the AP flour with the whole wheat flour. Easy to make, taste awesome but a little too sweet for me and my family. Next time I will use less sugar and substitute some of the ingredients for a healthier and less calorie version.

I made these strictly by the recipe, and they are terrific as everyone else has stated. The video is also helpful if you care to watch it. Many of my favorite recipes are also the simplest, and this one is as simple as it gets. It can also be used as a baseline for your own variations, using seasonal fruit spreads, chopped nuts, or whatever you come up with. My one complaint is that the quick oats, as shown in the video, are a little crumbly in the final product. I will definitely try old fashioned oats in my next batch, along with some chopped walnuts. I may also try a 50-50 mix of AP and Whole Wheat flour, as well as Splenda brown sugar mix, to create a healthier version on occasion. A+ oat bars.

These are awesome! I altered the recipe a bit to make it healthier. I used 1/2 c spelt flour and 1 c whole wheat pastry flour in place of the white flour; substituted turbinado sugar for the brown sugar (same measurable amount in recipe ; and finally added 1/4 cup mix of flax seeds and wheat germ. I also used the low sugar red raspberry preserves. They are sooo delicious and a little less guilty to eat. Nobody can tell the difference.

OMG! These were fantastic. I whipped up a batch last night after I came home from work. They were absolutely wonderful. My daughter loves them. Even took one to school this morning as a snack to eat in the car. I took some with me to work this morning and I am now looking at about 3 pieces remaining. Great reviews from my daughter and the co-workers which means they were a big hit. Great job Ree!
