I gave this recipe 5 stars because of its magnificent flavor, although I do believe the directions are wrong. I am an avid baker/cook. I instinctively knew that 2-1/2 cups of water PLUS the 1 lb. container of frozen strawberries would make it way to watery. I used the quick set method - 3/4 cup boiling water, 1/2 cold water abd the FROZEN strawberries. I used my potato masher to break up the frozen strawberries. Making the cake was super easy. Although angel cake never really rocked my world, this recipe was the BEST angel food cake I have ever eaten. The jello needs time to set up in the fridge until it can be scooped into the cake so it won't bleed. Other than a few minor changes in the recipe, the cake was fantastic. Thank you Ree for your delicious recipe. I LOVE watching your show and wish I could be out in the middle of nowhere sometimes. lol

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS & A BEAUTIFUL PRESENTATION. Our entire family loved this cake. Moist and a Wonderful burst of strawberry gelatin mix. Thank You, this will be a wonderful cake to serve for Christmas and Birthdays here on our cattle farm. Also, an accidental country girl from the city with a Ph.D. I would not trade my life with anyone.

Are you sure you have included all the instructions for this recipe? I used exact amounts and followed the instructions step by step and the filling was sooo juicy it ruined the cake. Should the filling set first? Unlike one of the other reviews the gelatin was a 3oz pkg and I used 2.5 cups of water with a lb of frozen strawberries, but was still too watery

I was so excited when you made this on your show! My Mom used to make this. Sadly she passed away when I was a teen and I never got the exact recipe. I had searched and asked around, but like someone else said, it didn't have a name then. The only thing different I remember my Mom doing was, she would tear up the pieces of caked removed and fold into the semi set Jello mixture before putting it into the cake. It always reminded me of strawberry shortcake. Thank you sooooo much! I can't wait to make this!

Let me start by saying that, prior to today, I had never made angel food cake from scratch. I printed this recipe out on 10/14/12. The original recipe didn't include the cooking temp. Today's version had the temp as well as a chg in cooking times. Assembling and mixing the cake went fine. 35 minutes is definitely not enough time to bake the cake. Making the strawberry filling did not go smoothly. The gelatin pkg are only 1.4 oz. Two pkg combined + up to 2.8 oz rather than the 3 oz needed for the recipe. I didn't notice this until afterwards. I followed the amt of water suggested rather than that listed on the pkg. If I had followed the pkg I would have used 2 c of water rather than the 2.5 listed. With my errors in using 2.8 oz of gelation combined with the additionsl .5 c of water my finished product was waaaaay to watery.

All in all the cake had great flavor. Thanks for sharing the recipe and the valuable lessons I learned in making it. :

I was delighted to see this recipe on air. It was the first cake that I ever made in home ecomonics class some 40 years ago, although they didn't have a cute name for it way back then. It brought back some great memories and a reminder of just how good this cake is.

I like this recipe, but I didn't have the 10 inch tube pan, so I bought a prepared Angel Food Cake from the grocery store. The only problem was that I had enough filling for 2 of these cakes, so just be aware that if you are using a store bought Angel Food Cake, you will have more filling than you need. Other than that, it was a pretty cake and it tasted good.
