I just made this tonight and what an awesome find! It was easy, quick and delicious. Used a few slices of jarred jalapenos since I didn't have fresh jalapenos, a can of stewed tomatoes since I didn't have the roasted ones called for and added a chipotle pepper in adobo and sour cream topping which made the soup richer and creamier. After the chicken was done I shredded it and added it back in to allow it to absorb more of the flavors. It's texture became more like that of dark meat, and was juicy and flavorful. A new family favorite...thanks!

Excellent. I have two little boys who can't really handle the spiciness of the jalapeno, so in place of it I buy diced tomatoes with green chilies. Still adds a bit of spice, but not too much. I add extra chicken breast and use it to make quesadillas to serve with the soup. Also, I crumble tortilla strips instead of grilled tortilla. This is our favorite meal.

This recipe is great. Flavors come together nicely. Second time added corn and sour cream for a creamy texture and it was also wonderful.

This is a very good recipe for a quick meal!. I substituted Ro-Tel tomatoes with diced chilies, a few diced stalks of celery, and 1/2 tsp of cumin for a more robust flavor. Turned out great and my wife even complemented me on it! Enjoy!

Fantastic soup! This is definitely going to be a regular on our "go to" list. Super easy to make especially since I used store-bought tortilla strips (found by croutons in grocery store instead of flour tortillas. Plus the tortilla strips stay nice and crunchy for that added texture. Here are the other changes/additions I made: Omitted jalapenos, limes and avocado, since I didn't have any, added a can of diced chiles, some cumin, used pepper jack cheese, and stirred in a spoonful of sour cream. Heavenly!

This is a great soup. I did not use as much garlic and only used one jalapeno as the recipe called for as I felt, for me, they might have been a bit much. But the finished taste was perfect for me.

Excellent! We LOVE this soup and it's super easy to make. The only change I made was a can of green chili's instead of jalapeno's and I added corn. YUM!!

What a great quick, easy and tasty recipe! I absolutely love chicken tortilla soup and this one is perfect! Like many others, I also added a tablespoon of cumin. I will definitely be making this again!

Absolutely fantastic. i quickly seasoned the chicken with salt peper and cumin and then browned it in avocado oil before simmering it in the soup. I also didnt include the avocado at the end or sour cream because i just didnt feel like it needed the extra calories. cheese at tortilla strips at the end add a different texture that is great. Oh, and i added in one can of corn with the black beans. Delicious cold weather meal. My fiance brings it to work and when he warms it up everyone goes crazy over the yummy smell! highly recommend

This recipe is perfect, well balanced and super delicious just as it is!! We loved it! We paired with a Pinot Noir for the perfect body warming dinner on a very cold, snowy, Midwestern Sunday. We have tried several recipes from FoodNetwork, with great pleasure, but this one really is special.
