My family's FAVORITE soup. My family's FAVORITE meal! Definitely easier to use a can of fire roasted tomatoes with chilies, (Muir Glen have the best flavor. I also find that black beans can be a bit mealy in a brothy soup, so I use pintos, which are perfect. Quick and easy, we have this at least once a week and FIGHT over the leftovers! I'm going to go and make some, right now........slurp!

What a great, low calorie meal! I used a rotisserie chicken and added a half can of corn as suggested by another reviewer. It wasn't spicy enough for my tastes, so some cayenne and some smoked paprika rounded out the flavor. We served with tortilla chips, low fat sour cream, and cheese. Awesome!

This was really yummy! I tend to taste my food throughout the cooking process so it made me really nervous initially as I slurped down bits and pieces of the unfinished product, but once everything was combined and completely cooked, it was amazing! It tasted even better the second day after it had time to marinate. I agree with everyone who mentioned the power of the LIME! I also added an extra can of tomatoes. Quick and easy.....

I have made this a few times. It is great! I used chipotle instead of jalepeno. I also substituted a half a can of corn for a half a can of the black beans; the mix is nice add sweetness and color. The fire roasted tomatoes are a great touch. When the kids eat this soup they don't like the chunky vegetables so I put it in the blender and place the chicken strips after with cilantro, cheese and tortilla chips. They love it. This is fast, easy and really good a cold day!

Delicious! I made it two days prior to eating and thickened it a bit with a roux. My new favorite soup for those chilly, rainy days.

This is a delicious and simple tortilla soup. It is the best tortilla soup I have ever had. We decided last minute to have tortilla soup, found this one and I had everything in my pantry that it called for. No corn, no cheese and no spices that will mess with your tummy! Loved it!

So tasty and easy! I did add just a pinch of cumin and I just chopped up the chicken breast and cooked it like that, it was great!

Great recipe. It is easy and very flavorful. My entire family loved it and I will make it again and again. i used rotisserie chicken and added a little bit of frozen corn at the end. I did need to add a little extra broth but that is just a matter of consistency. My young ones prefer brothy soup.

Delicious soup! Yielded many leftovers for me to have lunch all week, which I love. I used shredded rotisserie chicken (much more flavor and added frozen corn kernels to the pot near the end. My soup was very hearty, even though I did use all 6 cups of an organic low-sodium stock. Was absolutely divine with a dollop of sour cream, avocado slices, shredded cheese, crunchy tortilla chips, squirt of lime and a sprinkle of cilantro on top! MMmmMmmm
