This is a terrific soup and so easy to make! I also add cumin to the pot and we LOVE Siracha added to the bowl! I usually use a rotisserie chicken because my Husband is a dark meat eater and I like the breast. Also there is plenty of chicken for subsequent bowls!

So good and so easy! Used one carton of chicken broth (4 cups and a 28-oz. can of crushed tomato. Also added some chili powder and cumin. Don't skimp on the cilantro or lime -- they make the soup!

this soup is delicious and easy to make. I used rotisserie chicken and shredded it, I also added corn to the soup and used corn tortillas instead of the flour tortillas. The kids and husband love it. This is a great dinner recipe to make and super easy!! LOVE IT ...

Tasty! I also added a can of tomato paste, corn, chipotle chili powder, and a few green chilis instead of jalepenos.

5 Stars with the following changes: Add one small can tomato paste (otherwise this soup is too thin for my taste. Also, after cooking for about an hour and letting cool a bit, I pureed 3/4 of the solids in the food processor (to obtain a result like the "Circa" recipe that my husband loves so much. Finally, I'm not into poached chicken so I roasted four split breasts on the bone, skin side up for 45 mins at 350 (Ina taught me that. I pulled it off the bone, added the bones and skin to the simmering soup for about 30 minutes and then removed. Shredded the chicken in large chunks. NOW it is worthy of five stars! My husband can't stop talking about how great it is! Don't omit anything, lime and cilantro are a must. I added a dollop of Creme Fraiche and crumbled tortilla chips. Really, really great.

perfectly delightful! The combination of flavors tickled our taste buds. We loved the way the jalapeno lit the back of our mouths and how the sour cream on top cooled and mellowed the flavors. The lime provides such a nice counterpoint to all the flavors. It was a great way to warm our souls and use up some roasted chicken from the night before.
Thanks,

This soup was great. Very light but tons of flavor. I love the prominent taste of the lime and cilantro. I will add more jalapeno next time to crank up the heat a bit! Will definitely make this again!

This is my family's and my favorite Chicken Tortilla Soup recipe. Absolutely the best. I followed the recipe to the letter and was really happy with the results. Our opinion is that corn in Chicken Tortilla is disgusting. I was so happy to find a recipe that didn't call for corn! And I'm sorry if you think this recipe needs more "flavor" or spice, then your taste buds are dead. Just sayin.
My kids are very picky when it comes to soups, but this one won them over at the first bite. The only thing I changed is that I used frozen chicken tenders instead of breasts, as they can be cooked from frozen and done in no time at all. I also juiced one large lime and added to the pot instead of serving wedges.
