We followed this recipe exactly as stated and was somewhat disappointed. Overall, the cupcake was in fact rich, but the caramel was completely overpowered by the amount of butter (12oz that was used. Also, there was a lot of the 'caramel/butter' filling left over and WAY too much ganache. I felt very wasteful seeing how much was left and there was no way I would put more of the ganache on since IT is what made the cupcake rich.

While this was a great cupcake, I was disappointed that the blue rock sugar recipe was not included. I believe it you offer a recipe you should also offer all info to complete the recipe. But great recipe over all.

Good cupcake recipe. The mixing method for the cake is a little odd, though. Normally you would sift the dry ingredients together, and add them alternating with the liquid. Adding the hot water and cocoa powder at the end (like all of these chocolate cake recipes that add hot coffee at the end is unusual for one using creamed butter and sugar. I think I made a slight mistake in this recipe and didn't add enough cocoa powder, so it wasn't chocolatey enough. Easily correctable, though. Despite the unusual mix it came out well enough. Good texture, decent sweetness. They were done closer to 15 minutes instead of 19. They were close to 215 degrees, which means that a toothpick would have long come out clean. Check them at 15 minutes so you don't overbake them.

The cupcake itself was a bit disappointing. I had anticipated it would have tasted much better than it did. The filling for the cupcake was the most disappointing. I absolutely loved the caramel, it was the best caramel I've ever had. However, the idea to pair it with so much butter was a complete mistake and I could no longer taste the carmel. I recommend the filling just be the carmel and no butter added to it. As for the ganache, it was average and nothing special about it. Lastly, the blue garnish on the top is a waste of time. If you're looking for a good chocolate recipe, don't do this one. It takes way to much time to get not much out of it.

This is the best chocolate sponge ever. I had a little trouble with the caramel filling, but in the end these cupcakes were absolutely delicious. I see that others had leftover filling and ganache, but I found the filling to be just enough (lots if leftover ganache though. Perhaps this is because I made the mini's.

I have made these cupcakes 3 times now, and they have been a huge success. The last time I added a small drop of salted caramel buttercream on top instead of the listed garnish. It was yummy, but how can you go wrong with chocolate and caramel?

Food Network needs to remove the poor ratings for this recipe, as there was a mix up of some sort, and the creator of this recipe has nothing to do with that. It was a fabulous cupcake!

These took a while to make and the recipe is right... it makes WAY more filling and ganache than you need (but wonderful for tasting and saving for later. I had a lot of fun making them and everyone seemed to enjoy them. I will for sure be making these again!
