I just thought I would try this to change things up a bit in the vegetable area. I had never had a rutabaga. This was so absolutely delicous. We were all surprised as to how yummy it was. Sometimes simple is better! Definitely will make again and again.

I opted to make this as a Christmas day dinner side dish, thinking I may get my kids to eat it because the characters from Tigger and Pooh are always eating rutabagas. (not to mention my husband and I had never actually eaten rutabaga before!
My three year old ate well over a cup that night and finished leftovers the next day!
On the show Robert said to boil till fork tender ~15 minutes- mine took a bit longer. I also mashed to a chunky consistency as shown on TV rather than a "puree" as noted in the recipe. More like chunky mashed potatos. We liked this because it had great color and we could separate the flavors a bit better.
I need to go look for more rutabaga recipes now! Thanks for this one - it's quick and easy (and if my kids eat it - even better!!

I made this in the hopes I could get the family to just try root vegetables. Well I came up a winner. Everyone loved it and we will add this to the "Keeper" list. Thank you!!
