A very good recipe. My rule of thumb for "new" recipes is to make it exactly as the author intended the first time. I haven't felt the need to change anything. This recipe needs no tinkering. Good balance of flavors and easy to put together. Once, in an area without access to white cheddar I substituted cream cheese and it was still solid.

Yes, yes, yes! We tried this dish on Thanksgiving just to have something different from the usual green bean casserole. My husband and I both said "green bean what?" This was excellent! I covered it with french fried onions and baked it to brown them. Will have to try the sauce on other vegetables. Yum Yum :-D

I MADE THIS AND INSTEAD OF MIXING IT WITH PEAS, I ADDED IT TO BROCCOLI AND CAULIFLOWER. I ALSO ADDED ABOUT 1/2 TEASPOON OF FRESH THYME TO THE CREAM AND CHEESE MIXTURE. WONDERFUL SAUCE. A KEEPER IN MY KITCHEN!!!
