THE HERBS WITH THE BUTTER, AND EVERYTHING INSIDE THE TURKEY MADE IT SOOOO JUICY AND VERY TASTEFUL. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RECIPE.

My tom turkey turned out dry. It smell great but I should have paid more attention to Mary of Longview comment about how fast the turkey cooks. I time every thing and cooked the turkey by weight and time. Big mistake! I should have looked in on it after the first hour but Robert said to resist the urge it was overcooked. I took the turkey out when the popper on the turkey pop out and the instant read thermoter started going over 180*, I knew it was going to be dry. It was still ediable but dry. Next I will really check after the first hour and not go by weight and time so much.

I tried this and I was not sure how it would come out but it came out so good everyone was raving about it and the fact it was self basting made my day alot easier. The turkey tasted so good. I love to cook and bake and will try anything to see how it comes out. I even took the left over fresh leaves used for the turkey and put them in my stuffing cubes just to see and seasoned with salt and pepper and even the stuffing was delicious. i will use this every year

Just used this recipe for our Thanksgiving dinner today and the turkey turned out great!! What a difference putting the butter and herbs under the skin made! And this is the first year that I've let the turkey stand out for 30 minutes before carving and the meat was SO juicy!! Thumbs up all the way!!!

This turned out so moist and tender. Even the breast meat was nice and juicy.

I made it today for thanksgiving and the turkey tasted fantastic, I also used the basting liquid from the turkey to make the dressing and gravy and it was terrific. The whole family raved on and on about it. I will be making our thanksgiving dinner this way every year from now on. This is a great recipe I would give it 10 stars if you had it. I would love to get more recipes from mr Irvine.

    thank you,
    deb

I would like to have the gravy recipe that went with this episode. It was with Robert Irvine. He was cooking for a fire department. He added tomatoe paste to the gravy drippings but I don't remember what else he did or used.
    Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving.

After I watched this episode I decided to cook the turkey the way he did. I cooked it on Sunday. All the years I have roasted a turkey I never had starting cooking it at 450-500 degrees.
I put plenty of butter under the breast skin. The bird turned out great. The breast meat was so moist. I was amazed, and it also cooked alot faster than normal. This is going to be the recipe I will always use from now on. Wish I could have found the gravy recipe he used.Very good!!

I just made this for my son's school Thanksgiving dinner and plan to use it again for our family dinner. It was easy to prepare;no brining,no basting like I did last year. I used dry herbs because the fresh at the grocer didn't look very good and it was expensive. it smelled great while cooking and was really moist and delicious.

After watching this episode we immediately called the parents and invited them to join us for Thanksgiving this year. This is a very simple and doable dinner. The recipe is simple, has fresh ingredients and the instructions were written very well. We are able to purchase all the ingredients from our local grocery store ahead of time, which makes the processes easier.
