only 2 of us since it was the first time making it I wanted to try them first so I made 2. I will make them again.
Problem I ran into was cooking time. I considered my potatoes large, timed them for 20 mins.
ends were getting done but not the middle. Tried to spread the slices apart and the potatoes
started to break apart. I cooked for 10 mins. longer then turned heat down because the centers
were still a little hard. Another 10 mins they were ready for the cheese. I used what I had in the
fridge. I broiled them to melt cheese. They were great!
NOTE; I put foil on my tray for easy clean up. Did not spray it figuring the butter would keep them
from sticking. They still stuck and the crusty part of the potato started to come off when I moved
them.
All in all very very good, just watch cooking time and use nonstick foil.

It took much longer than 20 minutes to cook the potatoes. On his show, he says to cook them at 425 degrees, but the recipe says 400. Next time I'll use 425. His looked so good that I'm willing to try it again.

It is sooo good and easy -- I don't think anyone would ever dislike this -- the best is it can have so many variations too but i love it just the way it is. I saw this this morning and could'nt resist making it. Thank you Robert -- we all are a great Fan -- even my 5 yr old daughter is!

Saw the show this morning, made these as part of our grilled dinner. Maybe my potatoes were a bit bigger as they took longer to cook. And I used mild cheddar, colby-jack, and mozzarella cheeses on them. So delicious! Everyone loved them. Now I will make sure to make them for my dinner parties and winter holidays as they look beautiful all fanned out! Very easy, yet elegant!

Make sure they're cooked before putting cheese on them...
Looked great, smelled great. My fiancee and I were excited to eat them. Until we cut them open and realized they were raw.
I even cooked them 5 minutes longer then suggested. What makes it worse is that the cheeses he uses aren't cheap.

Cooking time is very suspect. Compare to the other recipes for same dish and this is roughly half the cooking time as the others. other than that...not bad...had to add another half hour to cook properly..needless to say it threw the timing off on the whole dinner.

Love it! kids did too, they liked helping & enjoyed eating. So easy to do & like the tip of the lemon in cold water to keep the potatoes from browning.
