What a fantastic recipe! I adjusted a few things. Used chicken thighs sauted with fresh Rosemary, Ginger, red onion, garlic, red chile flakes, salt & pepper. Then added the soy sause & hoisen & cabbage & carrots. I had no curry power for the couscous, so I used tumeric & fresh parsley with a dab of unsalted butter to finish it off. My boyfriend (who is a very picky eater went back for thirds!! & this morning the first thing he said to me was how great dinner was last night: This one is a Keeper!!

My family went CRAZY over this dish!! The wraps were DELICIOUS and the couscous was yummy! We used pearl couscous because we prefer the texture and I cooked in chicken broth, which adds tons of flavor. The whole dish was yummy-- My 8-year-old son just asked me today when we can have it again. BIG HIT!!

This is a very good recipe for leftover beef and is a 15 minute meal. Definitely one of our new favorites! We doubled the batch and had plenty for 4 people.

This was a very good use of the leftover root veges slow cooker beef. I was able to find Boston bib lettuce in my market, which was delicious instead of iceberg lettuce. For those of you who found the couscous bland, I always use a chicken or beef stock to make couscous. It's much more flavorful than water. A little pat of butter stirred in at the end also adds a little richness and flavor. BUTTER: my homage to Paula Deen y'all!!!

I didn't have any sesame oil on hand but I did have sesame seeds which I toasted then added in to the mix after it was cooked. I also added some chopped green onions(scallions in with the cabbage and carrots, I agree with one reviewer that the amount of cabbage may need to be upped a bit for four people (it was just for me and my hubby when I made this. I would also consider putting in some chopped water chestnuts next time for a little more crunch. The couscous was a little bland for my taste, needed salt and pepper and little butter or oil (sesame oil would have been great! Oh I also made a little extra of the sauce to drizzle over the wrap and we included the couscous in the wrap too! As in every recipe, adjust to your own personal taste, but the basic recipe turns out just fine!

I made this recipe multiple times and it's always fast and good. I just use the boxed couscous because it's fast and already flavored, etc. I've subsituted Romaine leaves and that works out fine. Plus I added water chestnuts, too. Even my kids (aged 5 and 1 love it! They gobbled it up!

Lettuce leaves make a healthy, delicious, low-calorie substitute for almost any other wrap. Any soft-leafed lettuce may be used for wraps of this sort. The lettuce used on the show is also known as Boston lettuce or butter lettuce in the north-east. My Vietnamese friends use green or red leaf lettuce for their lettuce wraps. The thickest part of the center ribs of larger lettuce leaves may be cut out to make wrapping easier, but only remove the stiffest part of the ribs.

The lettuce wraps were great tasting and super fast BUT the couscous was not so good. If you are going to make it per the recipe, you will need to add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter per the package. It didn't have much taste so I recommend to buy a couscous that already has the spices included. Other than that it was good. Oh, also I searched three grocery stores for the "bibs" lettuce and never found it. I used the butter lettuce that is in an actual plastic container and it worked great!!!!

Made this for lunch today with ground beef that I seasoned with Paula Deen's House Seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic powder. I must say my husband and I both really enjoyed it.........a nice change!! It was light and very tasty. Will definately make again. Wasn't sure if I would like the curry powder in the couscous., so I went a little light handed on the curry powder and added just a small amount of butter, also.........I think it compliments the lettuce wraps nicely.
Thanks for a great, easy recipe!!
