Great flavor and very filling! It works well over rice or on its own. Also I use sour cream and cilantro over the top sometimes. I too did not use the crab as it is so good without it. This is a keeper and a recipe that I make over and over again.

It doesn't get much easier than this and the result is so good. I added more black beans. I also like my food spicy so I might throw in a jalapeno or two next time. However, I don't eat pork so I used turkey andouille sausage, I don't know if that makes a different in heat. The brown rice is a great suggestion.

This was so easy!! My grandkids are staying with me for a week and when I told them I saw a black bean soup recipe on TV they all said they love black ben soup. So I made this for them. They raved about it! Yes, it is spicy but that did not diminish how much they loved it. The only extra thing I added was a cup of corn for a touch of sweetness. This will definitely be made again, but maybe with the chorizo sausage instead. This andouille really packs a whallop - so be ready for it. However, I had 2 bowls and my young grandsons each had 3 bowls. It is full of flavor!!

I was really impressed by the great flavor and simplicity of this recipe. I am doubling the recipe next time. I did add some fresh garlic to this recipe and also served it over rice with a dollop of sour cream to serve it like gumbo. The flavor is amazing and it is something you will crave after you first make it.

I did add a couple chipotle peppers and doubled the veggies. Turned out fantastic!

We really liked this one. We would saute onions and celery before adding them to the crock. Wouldn't drain the beans and would drain the tomatoes. Next time, we're going to add minced garlic and lime juice. Other than that it was AWESOME!!

This soup was easy to prepare. I added potatoes, cider vinegar, and lots of Old Bay. Next time I am going to add an extra can of diced tomatoes and maybe some corn. I also took the advice of other cooks and used chorizo sausage instead of the andouille. If you don't like spicy I wouldn't try it, but on the other hand if you do you have got to try this one.

I made this for my family and we all thought it was boring. It really needs something to spice it up and add flavor. I won't be making it again.

I substituted Chorizo sausage for andouille and ommitted the crabmeat. This is one of my favorite soups to prepare because of the flavor and ease of preparation. I throw all the ingredients in a crock-pot and 6-8 hours later I have a wonderful dish. I usually double the recipe and freeze half. You won't be disappointed if you love a spicy soup.
