This is a wonderful recipe. An authentic NYC pizza place calzone. As with most Italian cooking; less is more. Those of you adding meat, sauce...etc are really wanting a stuffed pizza. Calzones are all about the crust and cheese. The veg and meats are a condiment to compliment the crust and cheese, not to overpower.

This is an awesome recipe. I did tweak it a little, by adding mushrooms, a little sauce, pepperoni, black olives, and cut the ricotta cheese amount to a cup. Whenever I say I'm cooking it he gets all excited.

i agree to cut the ricotta to only one cup but the combinations are endless!! ham and cheese,vegetarian,italian,mexican... a very fast and can-be nutritious meal. here's a gesture--try it as a DESSERT calzone.

We loved it! All of us and thats rare. My daughter made this start to finish and had fun doing it. We used the Pillsbury classic dough in a tube(extremely easy to use.

This was so easy to make, I was very nervous since I have never used dough (I didn't get the premade stuff. I put in Italian sausage chopped up with spinach and it was so wonderful and huge. It fed my husband and I for 2 days. Better than anything I could of bought for the price of the ingredients.
    THANKS!!!

First time I made this is was too bland for my taste. This time a added lots of spice to the cheese mix and left over grill chicken. That did it! It was very filling and super easy. Also, serve with warm marinara sauce.
