I made this recipe, which was very easy and pretty quick. My dumplings tasted good but they fell apart after I served the "stew". I think next time I will simmer them a bit longer than the recipe calls for. Yes, I will make it again, the taste was wonderful!!!

When I made this the night that it aired, I was blown away that she called this a "stew" because it was very brothy with no signs of a stew-like consistency. Plus, when following her directions, the dumplings turn out undercooked, even if they are smaller in size. I simmered the "stew" longer than recommended (about 20 minutes and that cooked the dumplings AND thickened the soup (obviously it was thicker the next day. Decent flavor ~ very comforting scent throughout the house. : I'll probably try it again. It was super easy ~ even without doing the weekend prep, this would have been on the table really quickly if it hadn't been for the additional simmering.

A stew is thicker either by using a roux or cream to thicken the broth. This is a soup, and a very mushroomy and bland tasting one at that. I love the idea of prepping the individual bags of meat and veggies over the weekend and throwing together the meals on the quick, but spend just a few extra minutes to add some flavor and texture to this dish. The dumplings were good, although golfball sized is a bit too big and I simmer them longer. In general, there are much better recipes that don't take that much longer to prepare. I will try that chicken stir-fry recipe though. It looked great with the rice.

This recipe is good when you are looking for a home cooked meal and it is quick and easy.My dumplings came out a little tough/undercooked taste to them but I will try to do the recipe correctly next time. She has really good ideas!
