Great recipe ~ thanks! For those of you that are lowering the rating because you can't figure out what a serving is ~ Shame on You! How is the recipe writer supposed to know what size pretzels you are using?

Mini M&M's work the best and add lots of color. The regular size ones had to be crushed to stick to the pretzels, but worked just fine in the long run. Left over chocolate. . . not in this house. We'll dip fruit in it also. Didn't have a double boiler, but just put one pot inside the other. We couldn't dip the pretzels directly into the pan, so we had to spoon coat the pretzels with the chocolate which was just as easy.

This recipe is awesome, one of my favorites ever!!
Just melt the chocolate and put on any sprinkles you want. It tastes unbelievable. I put it in a clear glass and make a center piece out of it. It is the first dessert to go in a crowd, children and adults alike. What a festive, easy and yummy recipe, thank you Robin Miller!!!

Beverly, your three stars lowered this recipe's ratings for no reason. It says that the recipe makes 8-10 servings, so divide the number of pretzels you make by 8, 9, or 10 to figure out how much one serving is.

I was just wondering how many chocolate covered pretzel rods are in one serving. Please get back to me anyone who knows.

I'm a big sis home from college, and I made these pretzels for my little brother's teacher Christmas gifts. They turned out great - especially when you don't want to waste too much time and money on a very nice homemade present. I just heated the chocolate (white and milk choc. in a double boiler and used a spoon to coat the pretzel. I would have had to melt a LOT of chocolate to be able to just dip it right in there. While I was at it, I just decided to do chocolate-covered oreos. The white ones I coated in red and green sugar. They were a perfect side to the pretzels!

I didn't have a double boiler and the contraption I rigged up (a stoneware ramekin on top of a metal cookie cutter in a large pot of boiling water failed miserably. Probably because the steam got into the chocolate which caused it to solidify. Live and learn :-
Some ideas: I used microwave-safe tupperware containers and microwaved the chocolate at reduced power 45 seconds at a time, stirring each time. That worked really well! I used pretzels that are the traditional shape and dipped them flat against the chocolate. Didn't have wax paper, used foil with a little baking spray on it.
I also used white chocolate and semisweet chocolate. Then I got gifts from Ross, which has really cheap good "containers" like a wooden box that looks like a book or office desk accessories like leather cup holders. I wrapped the pretzels in tissue paper and put them in the containers. My friends loved them!
