This recipe had potential but just missed the mark. I followed the directions, but the meat was too under cooked - left it simmering for 10 more minutes, and served. I under seasoned (my fault!, I suggest being very liberal with the seasoning!
The au jus was delicious. I used Fat Tire ale - perfect! The onions were pretty good. But the meat was inedible for my family. Also, I didn't have time to get quinoa, so I used brown rice. Don't! Did NOT mesh well with the au jus.

Yummy! The beer makes it! I needed to use two bottles of beer to have enough juice. Loved it, we put the onions and juice on organic gluten-free pasta as well and it was sooo tasty!

Despite following the directions perfectly, the meat was not tender at all, nor did it have a lot of flavor. We didn't even eat it :-(

Made this London Broil and Roasted Onions tonight for dinner. I used a beer w/lime. It was really good - especially the onions! I browned the outside then let it cook low and slow after the liquids and onions were added. I wonder if those who thought the beer overpowering or bitter let it cook long enough. The longer cooking time allows more of the alcohol taste to mellow. Definately a meal we will repeat.
Oh, yeah and there is no way that my family would go for the weird grain. We had baked potatoes.

I would adjust it more the next time. It definately needed more salt and more mesquite flavoring. I'd also make it much spicier! However, a perfectly pleasant meal.

Didn't have any beer so used vegetable broth - also had to cook it a little longer as no one would eat it at medium. Despite these alteration is turned out really great, the onions especially added a good flavor.

We really enjoyed this recipe. The onions were melt in your mouth perfect. I followed cooking time for beef and it was just right.

Agree with all the negative comments re: the beer. Is Heineken an "ale" beer? Does a lager not work? I don't know much about beer, but I do know that roasted onions are delicious without it. I liked the mesquite seasoning a lot. I followed the directions, but my steak needed a lot more time in pan than recipe says. I also enjoyed the quinoa. Not only does it have a a nice flavor, but it has 11g fiber per serving.!
